The issues isn’t his status as a veteran, the issue is, they did no vetting of him at all, because even a basic Google search on his name would tell you that he is also an accused murderer.
The issue is, apparently you can just walk up, say, “I’m a veteran”, and get an invitation to Congress with zero background checking being done. The next time this happens, who knows who the person will be? Trying to spin their failure as, “We refuse to routinely distrust our precious veterans!” completely misses the point. Doing a basic search on anyone you plan to invite to congress should be an absolute minimum, automatic process.
No, that’s just a bonus. I’m sure what they actually were thinking was “I’m from Pigs Knuckles. When I was 13, I used to grab my .22 and go out shooting squirrel. Why should that be illegal?”, forgetting that a HUGE part of population of the state didn’t grow up that way. I’m certain that Senator Billy Bob’s daddy taught him about guns, but Garth’s father grew up in the suburbs, didn’t know anything about guns other than they go “bang”, and loved the Confederate Flag because it showed up on the roof of the General Lee. There is no way on the face of god’s grey earth that I would want Garth’s 13-year-old spawn to be open carrying in St. Louis.
I can’t speak to Hurts, but, as a Chiefs fan, I’ve heard and read a LOT about Mahomes over the past 6 years. I cannot once recall where he brought up his Christian faith, or even ‘thanked God’ for blessing him with his talent. Instead, he thanks his coaches, teammates, and his parents for his achievements.
Biden has fired the Architect of the Capitol, who was appointed by Individual 1, and who, not unsurprisingly, was accused by bipartisan critics, of using government property for his own use and was mysteriously not present on 1/6.
3: They did check up on him, found that he was an accused murderer, and didn’t care.
4: They did care, and chose him because he’s an accused murderer.
If I had to bet, I’d go with 4. Murderers are pretty rare; it’s highly unlikely to just accidentally happen upon one. And this is the Republicans we’re talking about, after all.
