NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: to infinity… and beyond!

Am I missing something here or did you leave something out?

Never mind

The flag implies that the scum-sucking insurrectionists of January 6 are equivalent to our military POWs and MIAs.

Giuliani claims that Trump threatened to blow up 'those big gold bubbles" if Putin invaded Ukraine

It looks as if Giuliani is releasing this story to prove that Trump was playing hardball with Russia.

I’ll admit that Trump calling Moscow’s cebula -domed Cathedral of the Assumption “Big Gold Bubbles” sounds like the famously nyekulturny Trump. He might even have actually said it. But I don’t believe for a moment that he meant it.

One part of this I’m having trouble with is the notion that Trump wouldn’t like “big gold bubbles” everywhere. Have you seen his apartment? The guy sticks gold on everything.

This sounds like someone trying to create something that sounds Genuinely Trump Stupid™, but not quite hitting the mark.

Well, he probably thinks threatening to destroy something gold is the worst threat he could make.

Oh, yeah, the threat to destroy them seems on-point. It’s just the “I never liked them” part that rings false.

I’d more expect Trump to threaten to send in the Navy Seals to steal all the gold to make new toilets for the White House, or something.

I can’t decide whether this is Rudy being incoherent, nonsensical and dishonest or Rudy reporting Donald being incoherent, nonsensical and dishonest, but ultimately it doesn’t really matter.

I would have thought that, if you were looking for a famous Moscow landmark to threaten, St. Basil’s Cathedral (which has multi-colored “bubbles,” not golden ones) would be more familiar. I suppose Trump’s eye was immediately attracted to the gold domes, even though St. Basil’s is far more striking as a piece of architecture.

I’ve always been a big fan of the Bubbles of Gold school of architecture.

A lawsuit has been filed against MyPillowGuy ally Shawn Smith for organizing a harassment campaign against residents of several counties in Colorado. Also named is a person who was at the 1/6 insurrection, who is part of Smith’s organization. The organization is going door to door, armed, asking people who they voted for in the 2020 presidential election. They are also allegedly taking pictures of people’s houses, which is technically legal, I guess, but comes across as harassment. Included in support of the lawsuit are the NAACP, the League of Women Voters and Mi Familia Vota.

It can, of course, be both.

If someone shows up armed on your doorstep, can’t you shoot them and say it was self-defense because you felt threatened?

Oh, wait, they’re white and you’re Black? Never mind.

As part of their don’t say gay and don’t mention black people in history efforts, the state of Florida is working to outlaw mentions of systemic racism in private companies’ diversity training.

Okay, the BS with the schools not being able to cover these subjects at least has the fig leaf of “parental consent” issues over what we teach kids. But how is this not just a flagrant violation of the first amendment? They’re literally outlawing discussing this topic between adults.

Not only that, but it’s been Republican doctrine for decades that private companies be unregulated and free to do whatever they want.

I have to wonder if the people who are being “protected” by this law will ever realize, they’re literally being treated like children. “Oh, Bob may be a 300 pound, gun-toting, leather-wearing badass, but that damned Disney went and made him feel “guilty”! We must protect Bob’s fee-fees!”

That’s no problem; their feelings are totally legitimate and should be protected. It’s only other people’s feelings that make them snowflakes.

I think a bigger contradiction is in how these new laws are going to be enforced. Someone will have to investigate when there are allegations that some private company dares to talk about sexual or racial inclusion. Those investigators will want to get paid. Do voters really want to be taxed for something like that?

When I saw that post last night, there was no image showing, just a lot of white space. Now the image displays.
