That would only be true if he had one.
Constitution Constismution, who worries about little things like the law when you’re in the party of law and order.
America not being in Africa Native Americans also have ancestors that were not born in the country.
But that’s not the real problem, after all, many european countries do not have birthright citizenship and somehow they make it “work” after a fashion.
The real problem is that not having birthright citizenship creates a de facto 2 class system in a country. In one side you have the citizens who enjoy the rights of their citizenship, in the other you have anyone whose ancestors make him ineligible for citizenship, no matter how many generations of them were born in the country.
These second class citizens can be easily exploited, which you and I consider a bug in the system, but the promoters of this kind of thing consider a feature.
Right. The “soft” version of that would be to make it so that it requires both parents to be already at least legal permanent residents if not naturalized citizens, before becoming parents.
Even under the old Exclusion Act, the children of residents ineligible for citizenship still had the right by birth, so all precedent on the 14th is in favor of jus solis.
Maybe we would implement some sort of scheme whereby citizenship is granted following military service. I wonder why no one has ever come up with this “Service guarantees citizenship” idea before…
Along those lines:
Airman 1st Class Edren Jash Pena wore a big smile after graduating from Air Force basic training on Wednesday.
He’d endured 7 ½ weeks of early morning wakeups, physical conditioning on the drill pad and wondering when he’d be yelled at next by military training instructors who seemingly scrutinized his every move.
But there was another really big reason Pena, 26, was so happy. The native of the Philippines was among 32 newly minted airmen to become American citizens in a ceremony wrapped into basic training graduation at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
…
The ceremony at Lack-land was part of a revived program that allows foreign-born permanent residents of the U.S. to earn American citizenship while in basic training. The combined graduation-naturalization ceremonies began in the spring.
…
The 37th Training Wing partnered with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in March to re-start the program after controversial policy changes in 2017 made it impossible for permanent residents to earn U.S. citizenship while in basic training.
…
The combined basic training-citizenship program is one of several initiatives the Air Force has taken to remove barriers to service. The changes come amid tough times for recruiting, and they’re helping to keep airmen in uniform, because citizenship opens up additional career opportunities in the military.

It’s not quite as simple as this snippet makes it sound. More detail in article.
I searched “Military Naturalization During WWII” and found an account of just this, from 1943.

I do not know what to make of DKT.
It is like some sort of ouroborosi parody. Also, the link says “2 min read”, but that does not include scrolling past acres of clickbait while trying to figure out whether there is more copy.
And of course, the people who they’re trying to exclude from citizenship are precisely those folks whose ancestors were here before any white folks ever heard of the place.
These guys have too much time on their hands. Shouldn’t they be doing some governmentin’?
WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans on Thursday requested voluntary testimony from nearly a dozen Justice Department officials involved in the investigation of President Joe Biden’s son Hunter as GOP lawmakers widen their scrutiny into what they claim is improper interference by the agency.
Leaders of the Republican-controlled House Judiciary, Oversight and Accountability, and Ways and Means committees asked in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland for nine officials from the Justice Department and two from the FBI to appear for the interviews to address recent allegations made by two IRS employees who worked on the federal investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes and foreign business dealings.
“Recent startling testimony from Internal Revenue Services whistleblowers raises serious questions about the Department’s commitment to evenhanded justice and the veracity of assertions made to the Committee on the Judiciary,” Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, James Comer of Kentucky and Jason Smith of Missouri wrote in the letter obtained by The Associated Press.

I guess Hunter doesn’t get any points for this:
The request comes about a week after Biden, 53, reached an agreement with the government to plead guilty to misdemeanor tax offenses. The plea deal would also avert prosecution on a felony charge of illegally possessing a firearm as a drug user, as long as Biden adheres to conditions agreed to in court.
He’d only get partial credit if he’d pleaded guilty to felonies with consecutive life sentences, as they’d prefer a nationally televised trial.
I did watch the whole thing. This is what I got from it (sometimes my comprehension is not great, so do correct me if I’m off base). This is the crux of why Republicans are obsessed. And they’re wrong BTW (no surprise there).
In fact, Hunter did NOT get a special deal in either situation. The gun thing (failing to disclose when he bought the gun that he was an addict) is rarely prosecuted at all. On the tax thing, the deal Hunter got (admitting guilt and paying the tax bill late) was typical in this kind of case. Nothing special. For those who say Merrick Garland went easy on a Democrat, in fact, Roger Stone, who owed a lot more to the IRS, was allowed to pay off his taxes with no probation OR charges. So there!
No doubt with TV cameras, marching bands, and street vendors. Like the ones you see at gun shows.
Buying a gun while not admitting you’re an addict. Does that mean we can take the guns away from every alcoholic in Alabama? I’ll vote for that.
Loser Donald has been elected to a fire district board in rural Oregon.
I can’t think of a better job for Trump than serving on the board of a fire district. Or are they supposed to put them out?
A stepping stone to WESTERN OREGON MAN OF THE YEAR award.
Trump and four other people were tied for the position with write-in votes following the May 16 election. They each had two votes.
Hubbard, Oregon has a population of 3,440 (2021).
The law that prohibits addicts from buying guns has been challenged as unconstitutional. It’s in the video… but I don’t feel like watching it again.
I guess the first thing he’s going to do is order a million rakes to rake out the underbrush so there won’t be any more fires. Hell, why not just cut down the trees and turn the whole state into a golf course? Yeah, that’s the ticket!
No, no, he’s just going to go around telling everyone they’re fired!
