NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

Sherman High School is a public school. It’s seems like this should be challenged under Bostock? Has anything been challenged yet to determine the scope of Bostock? There was a lot of press about what could happen after the ruling, but I don’t recall seeing much since.

This makes it seem cut and dried:

Based on identical language protecting student rights, courts and the Department of Education agree that federal law prohibits schools that receive federal funding from discriminating against students on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.
Schools may not treat students differently based on their sexual orientation. They may not treat transgender students differently from how they treat other students with the same gender identity. Not only is it unlawful to discriminate based on LGBTQ status, it is also unlawful to discriminate based on a perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.

Then I’m surprised that you don’t remember that the hero is already married to the girlfriend (and TRYING to have a wedding night) before he kills the outcast (and he killed the outcast because the outcast tried to immolate him and his bride).

But you’re probably right; Ado Annie will be lamenting being The Girl Who Cain’t Say Yes.

“Supposin’ that he says that you’re sweeter’n cream an’ he’s gotta have cream or die? Whatcha gonna say when he talks that way? ‘Zip up your fly!’”

They bowdlerized the movie, too (unless the TV execs did). I’ve seen the movie multiple times, and I just remember Cary Grant saying “I’m a son of a sea cook.” No bastard. Not even any illegit.

Last spring I played in TWO seperate high school productions of Oklahoma three weeks apart. One being a Catholic school. Of course, I’m in California.

I REALLY don’t care for that show now. It’s also three hours long. The things I do for money…

Nope. That was all on Warner Bros. I saw the movie after I saw our high school play which, like Jack_Batty’s college production, had bowlderized it to ‘illegitimate’ and was amused how the Hays office didn’t even like that.

This one’s only semi-dumb, as in she may not have wanted to be directly connected to Republicans, but why go into politics with that name?

Heck, when the Catholic school I work at put on Godspell this past spring, the casting call explicitly stated that all roles were open to any gender. And yes, we did end up with a female Jesus and Judas, and no, it wasn’t a problem for anyone.

She goes by Meg Bryce. I don’t know if she played up the Scalia name, but the opposition sure did.

The most stupid republican idea of her candidacy? She was running for a seat on the Albemarle County School board and all four of her children attend private schools.

I’d definitely watch a Mean Girls remake as a mashup with classic Bible stories (Lindsay Lohan as Jesus).

(I mean, I’m saying I would watch it on its own merits as well as the fact that I’d obviously watch it to upset the scumbags it would upset.)

A hundred Republican congressmen voted to defund the office of Vice President Kamala Harris because “she sucks at protecting our border”.

I agree with Nikki Haley on this issue:

I don’t think people who have or had the name scalia are a protected class. At least not yet.

Of course, my rep is one of these 106. I just shot him an email telling him to quit doing stupid shit and maybe start to actually, you know, govern.

I know it won’t do any good, but it made me feel a little bit better.

Yes, it’s not like we are allies with people in two foreign wars, our government is close to shutting down, or you know stuff a lot more important than the VP’s budget. These people should all be turfed out of congress they do not care what is going on in the country/world. All they care about it getting attention however they can get it.

We silly women, so easily fooled by the evil Democrats. It can’t possibly be that we actually have well formed opinions about healthcare and privacy.

anti-choice/republican thought bubble: ‘Really they’re just women. What could they possibly understand about even this simple
issue?’

Ugh!

hannity and company ought to have the balls to just say what they mean.

(quoting the article)

Yes, it’s terrible for being discriminated against for something you were born with.

It can take years. Better to be careful.

Could it hurry up? I need a new toaster.
