Ron DeSantis is outraged there is a mosque in Bethlehem.
The timestamp says that video is a minute and nineteen seconds, but I watched it, and I swear it was more like an hour.
If you play it back at double speed, it still feels like an hour.
I feel like it actually took me backwards in time to another, very different, century.
I know DeSantis is a fucking dumbass but Jesus Christ (sorry) this is dumbassery on a whole new level. He’s gone beyond 11, aiming at around 15
On a side note, I actually love the sound of the muzein calling out the muslims to pray. It is such a typical thing in the area where I used to live. Sadly all I get now are church bells. I like them too, but there is something astoundingly beautiful about the mosque.
And I am a militant atheist.
ETA: an atheist who attended church schools and sang in the church choir his whole school career. Religious music is often incredibly wonderful. I heard a soprano boy sing JS Bach’s “Jesu Joy of Man’'s Desiring” at a funeral. My god, that guy could sing.
Aside to your side note: I love Christian liturgical music, from Gregorian chant to Bach to Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis” and Verdi’s “Requiem”, and I’m a Congregationalist-raised atheist. The beauty and passion of the music doesn’t require belief to be moved by it.

There are also (apparently) 157 mosques in Florida. They even have Yelp reviews.
How are they going to track it? Generally, once the envelope has been verified the ballot inside is taken out and put in the pile of ballots to be counted.* How will they know which one is yours to pull it back it out – kind of negates the whole secret ballot thing.
* Here in Maricopa county it is counted before election day, but any vote totals are kept secret until after the polls have closed. Thirty years ago in Santa Cara county, when early voting was much less common, the ballots would be merely collected, then about fifteen minutes before the polls close, loaded into the counting machines. The moment the polls closed, the start buttons would be pressed and a minute of two later that count was done, then we’d wait about forty-five minutes until the closest precincts ballots were processed and brought over.
