NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

What does this have to do with stupid Republican ideas?

I’m not 100% positive, but it might be this:

Is he a Republican? That’s all I got. :woman_shrugging:t4:

Okay, he’s not, but he’s as dumb as they are.

… oops

So he can’t even run a casino the Right way. Between him and Vance they’ve lost the sea life voting bloc.

I live in Missouri. Apparently the two biggest concerns our state level folks (governor, lieutenant governor, treasure, secretary of state) face are the border and China buying up farmland.

The border one I can almost see, since the undocumented folks do get here eventually (and install roofs and stuff), but I’m really confused about the China and farm thing. Do they think the Chinese are going to dig up all the top soil and ship it to China? Otherwise, I’m at a loss as to the difference between a Chinese company (or the CCP) owning the land and some US based corporation or investment fund owning it.

I mean, there are potential issues with foreign ownership of key domestic resources (as the UK is experiencing, having happily allowed foreign companies to buy a substantial chunk of the UK energy infrastructure). And China does have a history of “economic conquest” - buying up all sorts of things until they are so entwined in the country’s economic infrastructure they have a disproportionate amount of leverage in its foreign policies (as many African countries have discovered).

But yeah, whatever legitimate concerns there may be, the US farmland thing is mostly driven by anti-Chinese hysteria.

Notice how nobody ever gets mad at the previous owners for selling to the Chinese?

I don’t care enough to research it (nor do I vote for the QOP), but apparently our solidly Republican controlled government passed a law some time back that allowed for foreign land ownership. It appears that the guys (all men as far as I can tell) who weren’t in office back then are beating up on the guys who were and voted how leadership told them to.

Or something - as stated, I don’t much care but the ads keep coming.

I thought about sending him an email (I think his name is Kehoe?) and saying something like:

“I notice your billboards have the slogan ‘Secure The Border’. I’m curious which border, as governor of Missouri, you would need to secure. Missouri borders eight other states so that’s a lot of different borders you need to keep an eye on. I live in Kansas and I know there has long been a ‘border war’ between Kansas and Missouri, although I thought that was primarily in college athletics. Perhaps you are concerned about Jayhawkers coming across the border, bringing their crime and drugs and taking all the good Missouri jobs?”

I think my brother said the primary is tomorrow, so maybe I’ll send it if he’s still in race after that.

I also noticed a lot of campaign signs for various candidates with a big red “Trump Endorsed!” banner across the corner. So I’ll be curious how many of those survive the primary.

There’s a small germ of concern in a few of these cases where there’s land near military installations being bought up and maybe a few of those have some legs as being close enough to engage in espionage.

Yeah, mostly this, though.

Great! Now we’ll see if he can losing money on gambling and prostitution!

Oh, he’s already lost a lot due to paying women for sex.

Back in the 90s, I recall Akio Morita saying that if we didn’t want Japan/Sony buying up America, that maybe we shouldn’t sell it to them.

It all makes sense, now! Childless cat ladies are really witches!

…as Christine O’Donnell bangs her head on the table.

They’ll need a lot of scales, and ducks.

Kamala Harris turned me into a newt!..

I got better.

Actually, nowadays Jayhawkers are coming across the border to buy drugs, as pot is legal in Missouri but not in Kansas.

You turned into a better newt?
