Food? Crops? Durable camping supplies?
Books? How-To books would probably be in high demand.

Yes, but we’re talking about a post-apocalypse USA, so there will still be hundreds of millions of firearms available. And sure, there will be billions of rounds of ammo at first, but no one will be making any more so it could become an increasingly valuable currency.
