One of the most aggravating things to me is how the media constantly lets Republicans get away with saying “I don’t know” or “I haven’t heard about that” when they’re put on the spot about the terrible shit other Republicans are saying or doing. A responsible journalist ought to follow up such a mealy-mouthed denial with “Don’t you think it’s unfair to your constituents that you’re so ill-informed?”

The comments we are reading about here have come from an elected representative who, by all that democracy is about, should stand for the best that Americans are as a people.
If this is who Americans as a people are electing, and are not doing anything about, it really says a lot about American society.
