NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

There’s more of that love for the military.

Don’t be silly; the rules don’t apply to the military!

We saw that as early as 2000, where one of the many factors that flipped Florida was a large number of military absentee votes being counted despite not following the rules.

Gold Stars don’t matter, either.

Speaking of which, Fox News got caught boosting a made-up story about a Gold Star family having to pay to have their servicemember’s remains shipped home.

Some real shade from CNN in there;

I’m genuinely surprised that they apologized

The payout to Dominion (and the upcoming payout to Smart-tech they sure to get slapped with) might just be making their lawyers a little twitchy.

Aren’t some of Trump’s lawyers from Fox?

Florida State Rep. Joel Rudman wants to pass the “Right To Rock Act”, which apparently means that a venue couldn’t break a contract with a entertainer due to things they say on social media or their political affiliations.

He also wants to pass an act that would allow healthcare workers to discriminate if it’s based in their own conscience. This seems hypocritical to me.

The story is here, where you can also watch Rudman and his band. Oh, didn’t I mention that part?

They’re still butthurt from when the tribal casino in my area blackballed Ted Nugent, aren’t they?

Aren’t Republicans supposed to be all about lifting regulations from businesses, so that they may grow the economy free from the burden of government oversight?

Even if they threaten me with torture, I’m still not going to see Ted Nugent.

Being forced to see Ted Nugent perform would be torture.

I saw him in the early 80s and he was a lot of fun. Of course, that was long before he revealed himself as a racist shitbag.

Shitbag? You mean he still hasn’t cleaned himself since his draft physical?

Question about the way these laws are written….are the laws written so open to interpretation; that Catholic and Protestants are able to openly discriminate against each other too? Is it just to allow “some Christians” to discriminate against gays, atheists, and unchurched people…?

Its written so that pharmacists and health care professionals can refuse to provide specific treatments that they don’t like. It specifically states that it does not allow for discrimination based on patient’s race, color, religion, sex, or national origin (note that sexuality or gender identity are not mentioned). Its primarily directed at pharmacists who don’t approve of dispensing birth control, plan B, puberty blockers, and Covid vaccines. Since there aren’t any treatments that those on the left are interested in blocking there isn’t much opportunity for it to backfire.

If we formed a “church” that had vaccines, contraceptives, gender care and access to abortive treatments as sacraments. Would that be possible way of getting around them?

That’s The Satanic Temple, and they are pushing for abortion rights on those very grounds.

Could a pharmacist refuse to fill a prescription for painkillers to a Republican?

Not really sure what young Master Joel thinks would be accomplished here should his “act” succeed. I mean, Redneck Roadhouse (Tampa) is hardly going to cancel the Jefferson Davis Airplane because of a Facebook post saying “Hitler RULEZ”, and if the NIMBYtown HOA protests Rainbow Bar and Grill’s signing of Derek and the Green Pieces after they post “Save the Whales” on FB, well they’re gonna be shit outta luck.

And the legislation isn’t going to stop progressives from doing a Tulsa Tik-Tok on any particular event.
