According to an article I read, his family is very high-caste, so he might really think he’s different. And he has links to Hindu nationalism. So why not make common cause with Christian ones?

As the article states it seems more of a play to set up that it was CNN that refused or cancelled.
As expected he’s trying to copy his idol’s playbook: “of course, your news organization HAS to cover me and give me exposure”.

My father is in his nineties and I think I figured out the high-waisted thing. I know my father lost height as he aged (don’t know if this is common). Meanwhile most men are too cheap to buy new trousers, or think they should still wear the same size they always have. The result is trousers that have to be worn high so as not to drag on the ground.
(Though Trump has money and presumably has access to decent tailors.)
I think it’s because the belly gets fatter and saggier. At some point you can no longer cinch your belt across your gut, and if you wear your belt below your stomach, your butt crack will be exposed. So above the waist it goes.
Suspenders will probably alleviate this problem. I’ll report back in 20 years (or less) when it becomes an issue for me.
