The big question is whether Project 2025ism will survive trump & trumpism. They are not synonymous projects.
There’s a bunch of overlap where Project 2025’s agenda is being accomplished by overreaching executive orders coming from someplace [Heritage Foundation?] that trump is happy to uncomprehendingly sign.
And there’s a bunch of performative (but quite real) police-state & klepto-state evil being perpetrated for trump’s personal entertainment and enrichment. Which is presumably at his (or his very inner trumporg / family circle’s) personal behest. The latter of which sells real well to the MAGA crowd.
If trump keels over next week, can / will Vance keep Project 2025ism going at least for the remainder of the 2024-2028 term? Will we see police-state overreach increase, decrease, or stay the same? Who among trumporg has wormed themselves and their businesses deeply enough into the federal trough that they can’t be easily dislodged? Will there be any effort to dislodge them? And what of the hard-right loyalists increasingly packing the upper ranks of every federal agency, most perniciously DoJ & DoD?
A decidedly nasty, mean, and corrupt style of RW government might take a generation to dislodge and a century to clean up after even if trump has died by Christmas 2025.
Now international visitors will pay significantly more than US residents to enter US national parks.
Oh, and US residents will be admitted for free on Trump’s birthday.
