NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

Crazy people have been running for governor of various states for a very, very long time. That’s nothing new. What’s new is that nowadays, sometimes they win.

Good point. Usually wackos are affiliated with either a protest party or a vanity party of one. If they do try to affiliate with one of the two mainstream parties, they don’t make it into, much less past, the primary. A real wacko as a mainstream party candidate is pretty much a post-2000 occurrence.

Them getting elected followed promptly. Pointing out how many people simply read their ballot as:

    Anyone (R)
    Anyone (D)
.

Which habit has occasionally backfired.

The feds are asking universities to provide lists of Jews. This is never a good thing.
(RNS) — One University of Pennsylvania professor notes, ‘This is how Nazis found many of my family members.’

Replying to myself for context.

I have no idea how a checkmark appeared in that sample ballot. I’m pretty sure I didn’t put it there.

I sure didn’t intend to. That was supposed to be two blank checkboxes.

I too could have sworn the first time I saw that post both boxes were blank. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Remember when Republicans were the party of state rights and limiting federal overreach? Now they are all for Feds telling states what to do. States shouldn’t come up with their own AI rules. Also, good luck trying to find any mention of this on Fox News. I don’t think you can find it on their website.

Me too.

I think Discobot voted.

I, for one, welcome our new silicon overlords.

They were blank for me too.

When I click on the check boxes, it adds a check to it.

Does it do that for anyone else, or is that a mod thing?

I’m the poster of that post and clicking the boxes does nothing for me now, hours after the edit window expired.

As an Indiana native, I concur.

Unsurprisingly, Trump has vowed that Indiana will no longer receive federal funding since they didn’t go along with his scheme.

Meanwhile, Trump has approved FEMA funding for the flooding in Washington state with no strings attached, which just proves how senile he’s become - he’s forgotten that he’s supposed to hate us because Antifa burned Seattle to the ground and we’re all radical left lunatics who want “open borders” and “transgender for everyone”.

It doesn’t do anything for me, but the box is clear now.

Are you worried about the insidious airborne menace of chemtrails? YOU SHOULD BE! That’s why the brave and noble lawmakers of South Carolina are displaying their brave nobility by ensuring that chemtrails are no longer allowed in their state! Eventually!

Chemtrail bans and RW legislators have history:

What morons. No air travel for you I guess.

There’s a legit question of whether the various legislators personally believe this shit or are simply pandering to their “base” of the common clay of America … you know, morons.

I suspect the answer is some of each, but I sure wish politics hadn’t turned so completely into reality TV.

I’ve been waiting for Snooki - Wikipedia (of Jersey Shore fame) to launch her bid for politics. But it seems her 15 minutes have passed and her star has faded to near oblivion. So our country may be spared that particular indignity.

Chemtrails from airplanes don’t currently exist, of course (and have never existed), but the bill in question more broadly seeks “to prohibit the practice of intentionally releasing chemical compounds, substances or contaminants into South Carolina airspace with ‘the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight.’”

And weather modification proposals (like stratospheric aerosol injection of sulfur dioxide or other materials) have indeed been proposed over the years to mitigate the effects of global warming (but never gone anywhere beyond the discussion phase).

But anyway, since these legislators presumably don’t believe in global warming, they are seeking to preemptively ban any attempts to mitigate it.

So bottom line, the bill is being supported by a conglomeration of conspiracy theorists and global warming deniers, likely with some overlap between the two.

Piece Of Shit Donald Trump says that Rob Reiner was killed by (due to) Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In other words, Trump is siding with the son/murderer.
