NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

Trump claims that the United States needs to take Greenland for national security reasons and that if it doesn’t, Russia or China will. The thing is that under existing agreements, the US can place as many military bases on Greenland as it needs, without acquiring it.

“I don’t recognize your authority to impose these controls over me,” he told them.

Hmmm … where have we heard these sentiments before? Did the flag in the room have a gold fringe?

And it seems his peers are not amused:

To be sure, WASPC seem to agree with Swank on the bills in question, but even they have a line that can be crossed. Which he did.

As a denizen of the Armpit of Puget Sound who voted for his opponent, Swank’s comments don’t surprise me a whit. His campaign was largely an appeal for “law and order” (Bull Connor style) — aka “keep the uppity [racial epithet]s in their place” — and he’s openly defiant about state law which restricts LEOs when it comes to cooperating with ICE et.al. This has set him on a collision course with the county prosecutor and led him to seek outside legal counsel more to his liking, an issue which is wending its way through the court system. Haven’t heard of a recall campaign yet, but it wouldn’t surprise me if one does emerge; it it does, I’m in.

Fucking Hell. And I work in Tacoma.

Trump threatens to punish countries with tariffs if they don’t support his attempt to steal Greenland.

Does this guy consider himself a constitutional sheriff?

You have my sympathies. And being retired, I don’t even get to leave at the end of the day.

But I do live close to Side Piece Kitchen, so it’s not a total loss.

Haven’t heard him describe himself as such — nor mention of the CSPOA — but it wouldn’t surprise me. Though he does seem to be at odds with the county government, especially (as noted above) the prosecutor.

Or he could be just a garden variety racist asshole.

So he’s admitting the tariffs are political and not economic?

As is the case with so much of this malAdministration, they’re Schrödinger’s tariffs. It all depends on what the Orange Peril thinks (and I use the word advisedly) this picosecond.

Sweet lord above. The guy whose name is on a book called “The Art of the Deal” is the worst deal maker in the history of the universe.

He’s either hammering someone with a tariff, threatening violence, or asking for a naked bribe.

And that’s the art of the deal!

Following leaked messages, New Hampshire State House Republican education chair says she favors politically segregated schools

“Republicans have been self-segregating out of the leftist indoctrination centers for decades,” wrote Rep. Kristin Noble, the chair of the House Education Policy and Administration committee, apparently referring to public schools.

“If democrats had their own schools, and we had our own, families wouldn’t need to avail themselves of the wildly successful education freedom account program,” she added. “It’s a win / win proposition."

WTF? That’s insane. This is Nazi Youth shit.

Not insane - planned. We have fascists trying to take over the country. This is completely in line with such bullshit.

Not for nothing, but New Hampshire always has a few fringe crazies in the house. Chair of the education committee is a bit more serious than random house member, but those people are always lurking there somewhere. It comes from having a huge house compared to the population, so it doesn’t take that many votes to get elected. Also being New Hampshire.

Katie Miller likes her coffee like she likes her country - watered down, bland, and weak.

I have a coffee mug that says: I like my coffee how I like my Sabbath.

…kept warm on a hot plate since Friday evening?

Close. Ha ha.
For anyone genuinely puzzled, I found it available in the merch section of the official Black Sabbath website.

Back to stupid Republican ideas…

Elon Musk and Laura Loomer have implied that Ilhan Omar should be put to death for her language when she said that the last place she should expect to find fascism is the “U.S. goddamn states”.

Nothing says fascism like condemning someone to death for what they said.
