NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

MN Senator Eichorn authored a bill to have “Trump Derangement Syndrome” classified as an actual, medical, illness.

Interestingly, I think any [non-political] doctor would be diagnosing the MAGA people as having it, not everyone else, at least based on this:

“Trump Derangement Syndrome” means the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal persons that is in reaction to the policies and presidencies of President Donald J. Trump. Symptoms may include Trump-induced general hysteria, which produces an inability to distinguish between legitimate policy differences and signs of psychic pathology in President Donald J. Trump’s behavior.

I mean, if there’s a group that’s confused about signs of psychic pathology in Trump, they’re not on the left.

But the next lines indicate one also needs to be hostile or aggressive to Trump, anyone supporting Trump or anything symbolizing him.

Anyways, that senator was arrested for attempting to pick up an underage sex worker [it was a cop]:

Every time I hear the term “Trump derangement syndrome” my first thought is exactly this. When it’s used to refer to people who are opposed to Trump I have to remind myself that it’s not referring to people who have been deranged by their belief that Trump is the Second Coming.

I just say that Trump Derangement Syndrome is what led to the January 6 insurrection.

It was only a matter of time until it was a minor girl, or a guy in a bathroom. These ultra-conservatives are so predictable.

Honestly, I can never remember if we’re saying they have Trump Derangement Syndrome for believing everything he says or if they’re saying we have it for not believing everything he says.

In all honesty it’s both. It’s a term both sides throw at each other.

Though they say the left has TDS because they freak out at things that Trump does, when many on the right are just lied to about what Trump does. Like his scumbag press secretary claiming that the economy is all Joe Biden’s fault that Trump is trying to fix. (Despite the fact that the economy was much better before Trump started fucking everything up.)

To complete the Eichorn Trump Derangement Syndrome guy story, he resigned this morning. Even the Minnesota Republican leaders were pushing for him to leave.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that caught that!

Covfefe is a secret mind control method from outer space.

The 9th Circuit has voted 7-4 to uphold CA’s ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

One of the Trump-appointed judges on the court decided to issue his dissent in the form of a Youtube video where he shows off his gun collection.

Betcha the judge thinks of it as his audition video for the Supreme Court.

Post-assassination attempt, I’m not sure that Trump is fully on board with the prevailing Republican opinion on gun control, though. He may be keeping his opinion on that to himself.

He can keep his mouth shut? The mind boggles.

Musk’s been meddling in the Wisconsin Supreme Court Election.
Apparently he offered to pay $100 to anyone that would sign a petition opposing “activist judges”. The petition states “By signing below, I’m rejecting the actions of activist judges who impose their own views and demanding a judiciary that respects its role — interpreting, not legislating”
I really don’t know much about election law, so I have no idea if that’s illegal or not, seems like it might be vague enough to be fine. The article mentions that anyone who signs it is handing over a bunch of personal data to musk and ‘can be contacted again’, but it’s not like one more phone call is going to make a difference.

In any case, I hope the other judge, Susan Crawford, brings that up over and over and over. Musk is bribing people with $100 checks. He’s paying them for their support. Maybe she can even remind them that Musk won’t know who you voted for (nor are they asking anyone to prove it, so far as I know), even if you sign(ed) that petition and got your $100, you can still vote for either candidate.

The acting head of Social Security says he’ll shut down the agency rather than comply with court orders, and the Commerce secretary says that any old person who complains about losing their only source of income is a liar.

I’m sure my mother’s cousin would be surprised to hear that.

If Trump really does fuck with Social Security so much that it impacts the people dependent on it, good luck in the midterms.

I have a very close friend who works for Social Security and lets me know what’s going on behind the scenes. It’s a complete clusterfuck as you’d imagine. But they’re doing their best to not let it impact customers. When it get to the point that it does, that’s going to be a problem in many different ways.

I’ve been thinking that when they cut off Social Securitu that’s when there will be widespread violence. If you cut off the major source of income of a big chunk of the country there will be bloodshed!

Dudek has backpedaled away from this hard.

Less than 24 hours later — after the judge rejected his argument and the White House intervened — Dudek is saying he was “out of line.”
-and-
“[The White House] called me and let me know it’s important to reaffirm to the public that we’re open for business,” he said. “The White House did remind me that I was out of line and so did the judge. And I appreciate that.”

You’re goddamned right.

If they are cut off social security aren’t a lot of these people just going to end up homeless and/or dead? Will they even be voting?
