Just MHO, but that’s what I think the flashpoint will be. Because then for a large portion of society it goes from being mostly about those people to being about us.

I’ll also mention that while some people on SS are old they aren’t necessarily disabled or feeble. And some of them own guns… Or other means of expressing their displeasure in a graphic and unmistakable manner. In a parallel with saying war is diplomacy by other means, violence might be seen as voting in a different manner.

As a former Social Security employee I can remember two times when there were government shutdowns due to Congress fucking around with approving the budget. Both times the only government offices which were not shut down were the DoD and Social Security. We used to joke that if they tried to shut us down Congress would be flooded with enraged seniors.
