NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

And I’m sure Republicans would object to him in a leadership role in the US.

My point was that much of what Corcoran objected to would apply to Trump.

I was not a “theatre kid” but in my late teens/early 20s, the young ladies in a nearby amateur teenage repertory were… let’s just say, not at all gay.

I never actually got the rôle (or is it the roll?) But I got kissed a few times.

Maybe the guys were gay, I did not speak to them much, late teen women drama-queens are enough on their own.

This whole “theater kid” insult is idiotic but remember that the sainted Ronald Reagan was in drama club and the football team in high school. Would people call him a “theater kid”?

One hundred per cent.

A theater kid is a kid who does theater stuff, and they are as varied as kids get.

It is hardly an insult. My uncle and his son were both, at one stage, “theater kids”, now “theater performers” and have performed in the Cirque du Soleil.

Not sure why you take offense. There are chess kids, football kids, math kids, and yes, theater kids. My own son is a bit of a polymath, so I group him in my own space, “nerd kids” - although he is more intelligent than I am.

(Not that a football player can’t also play chess or vice versa)

…kids who climb on rocks.

… kids who fall off rocks.

No one is perfect, not even my son.

It was an old pop culture reference. I’m curious if anyone here will recognize it.

I did.

Consider it an anniversary present.

Thanks for mentioning that. I hadn’t noticed. Twenty-three years at the SDMB!

Even kids with chicken pox!

The dog kids loooove tooooo biiiiiiiite!

JAQ, certified Old coot

I started singing it the moment I read the post.

So surprising that these ancient ditties can be conjured up in their entirety with just a few lines.

Note that I have no particular problem with theater kids, but apparently New Hampshire state representative Travis Corcoran does. He said, “We need a final solution for theater kids in politics.” Later, he said, “We really do need to purge theater kids from any role that puts them anywhere near levers of power. Reality is a hard problem and you children are incapable of dealing with it.” See post 3556 in this thread.

Hotdogs, right? Tell me I’m not crazy and you all are singing about hotdogs.

Armour Hotdogs! :musical_notes:

Okay, old man card verified for me then.

Pushing hatred is a very fashionable stance among Republicans, lately:

Anti-Muslim rather than anti-Jewish, but brothers under the skin, one suspects.

Like a hatred horseshoe?

In case anyone is feeling nostalgic.

Apparently there were earlier versions, but this is the one I saw.
