NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

And they would have gained access to a chamber with no congressmen in it, but lots of armed officers who could and would (and did) shoot to kill.

And the things being suggested by the doomers in this thread are not possible.

So, here in Kentucky, there’s a race to the bottom to “out-Trump supporter” the other candidates in the upcoming midterms. The candidates are trying to position themselves as more Trump-aligned than their competitors. So their campaign ads paint each other as the most anti-immigration, most pro-ICE, pro “Trump can do no wrong” than everyone else in an attempt to get that endorsement and stand out from the crowd.

So one of the ads playing locally is against Andy Barr, and the level of racism in the ad (calling Barr “Amnesty Andy”) surprised me more than it really should have.

I should have expected the ads to appeal to the lowest common denominator. But I really thought we were past that.

(Note: if you don’t want to watch the ad, the narration is someone doing a Hispanic accent, talking about how Barr wants to give illegal immigrants amnesty, allowing those criminals to stay in the US, and how wrong that is. There are no slurs in the ad, but it’s the tone of the ad that’s bothering me)

Don’t be silly.

While you tell yourself that, Republicans are looking forward to doing things you say they can’t do. Case in point:

In case that one is paywalled:
https://thehill.com/policy/transportation/5797390-bannon-ice-airports-2026-elections/

All those women whose IDs don’t match their birth certificates–ballots destroyed!!!1!!! What a glorious result for the Dear Leader!

I invite you to consider the possibility that Steve Bannon, who has not worked for Trump for eight years now, is full of shit and is making things up.

Do you also believe him when he says Trump is “playing 5D chess”?

Then prepare to combat the ACTUAL threats to the voting process. Gerrymandering, unconstitutional voter ID laws, attempts to limit accessibility to mail-in voting and reduce the number of polling stations.

Not fantasies about cancelled elections and stormtroopers overrunning polling places and murdering candidates and mailmej deliberately destroying millions of ballots because they can tell you’re a Democrat based on your zip code.

It’s 1939, Hitler is gearing up to invade Poland, and you’re wasting your time preparing for an attack by Martians.

Trump and his MAGA are radicals, not Conservatives.

Not just simple radicals, either. They are extreme radicals who want to tear everything down in the belief that they can built it up like they want it afterwards. Fat chance of them succeeding at building it like they wish.

Conservatives, on the other hand, aren’t in favor of destroying the country.

So, tell me where real Conservatives stand on equal rights, abortion, public education and the Constitutional rights of those who are not yet citizens?

I think you mean “a few armed officers and several lawmakers and staff still being evacuated”.

Mike “my Grindr password is Moses69” Johnson is bestowing a golden idol upon his Lord and Savior, Donald Trump.

No, honoring him with a new award is something Republicans have done many, many times before.

They should just give him a toddler busyboard.

I thought you said they were liberals? Are you saying liberals are the ones in favor of destroying the country?

The people that have voted for Trump are the ones trying to destroy the country. From my point of view, they are conservatives and LIBERTARIANS. Stop trying to blame others for what YOU have done. The left aren’t the ones that voted Trump in. The right and the “independents” are 100% to blame. Libertarians included.

Name the conservatives that have stood strong and vocal against Trump? Name them!

Dumbshit.

Did you mean to address this reply to me? Or did I get tagged my mistake?

I have no idea how you got looped into that. Sorry! That is all for for @billy-jack

Also, potentially “detained” on the spot for failure to provide proof of citizenship.

I probably should have said anti-Conservative.

That said, it is hard to argue that they aren’t for the government controlling the means of production, something which is highly Socialist/Communist. This has shown up in several different ways including taking large stakes in businesses as well as using government power to force businesses to do things their way.

There’s also major difference between different types of liberals. The mainstream part of the Libertarian Party, for instance is very much based on Classical Liberalism.

You aren’t a Conservative because you have some views associated with Conservativism. I know, for example, some people who are very much on the left who have one or two views that most would argue are Conservatism.

Instead, if you are Conservative, you have Conservative views. Conservatism is based more on your outlook on life.

There are some Conservative views that many Conservatives don’t have. The ones that have them, though, are far more vociferous and can give you the impression those views are unanimous. One such view is on abortion. Believe it or not, I know people who have been Conservative all their life, sometimes very much far out on the fringe, who aren’t concerned about abortions.

As far as Conservatives, it is much more about a deep respect for the great institutions of life and about one’s satisfaction with one’s place in society. It is for people who worked hard to get to where they are and are proud and determined to keep that position. The great institutions would definitely include religion and business and even government. They will often understand that changes need to be made, but they need to be made slowly with great deliberation so as not to inadvertently destroy what they are trying to preserve.

So, for example, views on abortion are often based on religious views, especially in the Catholic Church but also in some of the more modern right wing churches. It is also held by some people who adopt the views because it is what they think they need to be a Conservative.

Look at equal rights. Most Conservatives I know are for more or less equal rights, although many do have the view that because of their hard work and position in life, they should perhaps have more rights than those who are a drag on society.

The real problem with equal rights is that the notion on the left that the downtrodden should have greater rights to help them catch up. So we end up with things like forcing bakeries to bake cakes for gay weddings. That is an abomination. If a bakery wants to bake a cake for a gay couple, that’s fine, but they should not be forced to do it or to not do it. The decision should be up to the owners.

Another issue with equal rights is that we are having more and more women in the military. In war, that cannot help but increase tensions. Also, the standards have to be relaxed a lot for women to be able to compete.

Trump, at least, is not a Conservative. He has no Conservative guiding principles. With him, it is all transactional in his favor. And his MAGA cult have abandoned Conservatism in their support of him. They don’t want to preserve the great institutions – they want to tear them down in the stupid belief that they can then somehow build them up in the way they want.

“Some people are more equal than others”. What an original take.

And if they don’t want to serve black people at their restaurant or let Jews use their swimming pools or hire non-Christians or rent housing to gay people, are those abominations too?

Those aren’t “greater rights”. Those are equal rights. The “greater rights” are the ones being demanded by the people who insist that they are being discriminated against by not being allowed to discriminate against others.

The same argument was made about desegregation. It turned out to be bullshit.

So, in addition to all the things you have absolutely no understanding of in the post that follows the above post, you have no understanding of socialism.
Hint: It’s not the government controlling the means of production.
