I live in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District, which is now open but will probably go to a Republican in November (it’s the only R district of Nevada’s 4) – contains purple Reno but a lot of deep red rural counties. I attended a forum of the leading Democratic candidates for that office, one of whom told this story: he went out to those rural areas to meet the voters, and to determine what the Number One issue that was on their minds. Was it affordability? The war in Iran? Air and water quality? Something totally local like Bureau of Land Management control over public lands? No, none of those. You’ll never guess…
