My sister lives in that area ( Gardnerville). When I visited her, maybe 2020 or 21, they still had a siren that went off at 6pm every evening to let the injuns and darkies know it was time to get off the streets. A fecking sundown town. In 2020. Nothing coming out of there sueprises me.
Randy Fine says he accidentally got someone else’s mail delivered to him, which proves the Democrats are stealing elections.
According to wiki, the siren creepiness came to an end in 2023. ![]()
Riiiiiiight. Got it.
Just to clarify, that is most definitely not the stance my sis and mother took.
Following up: (coulda gone in Texas thread also)
Well, for starters (way to go Canada!)
Hoping Abbot is uncontrollably sharting.
EDIT: Guessing this would be tantamount to anarchy if the ban is applied within the state.
Greg “Obersturmfuhrer” Bovino is running for president.
How is this a Stupid Idea?
Yes, at first glance it looks like an All-Too-Likely-To-Be-Successful idea.
When Donald is gone, the raging hordes will NOT be satisfied with Don Jr (much less Erik). And, no, they won’t want Ivanka either.
Pundits talk up Rubio but it seems insane to think that the ‘all Spanish-speakers should be locked up’ folks will embrace Little Marco. And Vance is just pathetic.
No, the bloody-minded will want a Real Man. Bovino has sold himself that way, and will have genuine fans.
(Despite being a small-statured fellow. Once the raging hordes take that in fully, Bovino may have to settle for the #2 spot, in support of some larger dude. Paging John Cena!)
The issue is that he’s a relatively small profile guy; he doesn’t have that much fame. And the Trump administration threw him under the bus somewhat (and he deserved it, and more) so I don’t know that even people on the right who know who he is would be enthused by him. Sure, there is going to be a fringe that gets twitterpated seeing a Nazi cosplayer running for president, but I think he’s going to need a lot more than that.
Yes, the right is quite fascist-friendly these days, and acting like a Nazi is not a political career killer like it used to be. But you need more than that. He has a couple of years to try to build something up, but I’m just not seeing it.
Yup, of course it’s insane. Just like it’s insane to expect that the “Tall, blond men are the ubermenschen” Nazis would rally behind Hitler. People are insane.
If Bovino was still in government he’d have a decent shot at building that rep. As a civilian he can’t do much more than bloviate. If some tycoon wants to buy him a million-bot following to catalyze his media star power he might go somewhere. Otherwise not.
Consider the example of Sheriff Arpaio of Phoenix (Maricopa County actually). While in office he did many outrageous things that increased his profile among the hate-filled. And he worked hard to get all the credit for the hateful stuff he did. His only failing as a fascist was that he peaked a bit before the country was ready for him. Hell, even red-meat Arizona started having misgivings before he was pushed out.
If he was just getting going as Fascist-in-Chief of Maricopa County now, or better yet back in about 2023, he’d be much better placed to become prez than Bovino or Vance in 2028.
I hope you’re right. Suggestive in that direction is that a similarly bloody-minded ‘real man,’ Mike Flynn, has fans but isn’t really talked about as the Obvious Successor to Donald. (Flynn is 67 now, which of course doesn’t help. But on his side is that he was an actual Army General, whereas Bovino has never been anything but a Border Patrol poseur.)
We shall see. We do know that Donald’s TV fame was of immeasurable value in making him President. To find his successor I suppose we should be looking more at cable-TV personnel than at in-the-field bully-boys like Bovino.
Can’t argue with that.
If you hear stories about Peter Thiel spending time with Bovino though, all bets are off.
And then you hear that Mark Bennett is creating a new reality series that will showcase Bovino as a Brilliant Businessman-----get ready to start worshipping a new Dear Leader.
The word “Thiel” was echoing around in my brain as I wrote that. Perzactly.
Tommy Tuberville sends his tax returns to a newspaper then threatens to sue them for reporting it.
“Tommy Tuberville makes a huge, stupid ass of himself yet again, but to ensure everyone knows about it, files a lawsuit to draw further attention.”
