My niece also lives close to Canada and recently beat my brother (her father) and I at shuffleboard legitimately despite being pretty young. I had assumed that they’d have a curling team in her area so she could at least dip her toes into it to see if she is a natural at that as well, but apparently organized school teams are also confined more to Canada despite the closeness of some New England states. There are at least arenas to play at though, so I guess she could at least try it.
I knew someone who lives in northern Vermont and used to routinely cross the border to play at a club in Canada. Don’t know if the current border restrictions would make that more trouble than it’s worth.
There are clubs in New England, but they may not be close enough for her to play very often.

Eh, I doubt he’s thinking that far through the issue. If “low-wage foreigners” disappeared from the workforce and prices and scarcity skyrocketed n consequence, he’d just fume that all the woke Dumocrats are somehow to blame.

Troy Nehls was asked about the current affordability crisis Americans are facing with increased costs from the gas station to the grocery store.. Rather than immediately answering the question, Nehls pivoted to his own Fourth of July plans.
“Affordability? What are you talking about?” Nehls asked before bragging about his upcoming Fourth of July plans in Texas.
“I’m gonna get me a couple of big lobster tails,” he continued. “I’m gonna get me some nice ribeyes, I’m gonna sit in my backyard with my family, my neighbors, and we’re going to be enjoying the fourth, celebrating 250 years, the birthday.”
When asked how his plans for lobster tails and ribeyes might resonate with Americans struggling to pay their bills, Nehls doubled down.
“Maybe the 60% of Americans don’t work as hard as I do either. I mean, I don’t know,” he concluded.
Probably a good thing he’s not running for re-election. OTOH, he might have just earned a bunch of votes. It is Texas, after all.

That’s my district in suburban Houston. It’s more diverse than you’d expect but also very gerrymandered.
But he’s also corrupt as heck, and it was starting to catch up to him again (again, because he’s lost some jobs over it across the years). And it’s a district the R’s have been winning by smaller and smaller margins over the last couple decades, even before the R re-districting to eke out a few more seats in Texas. Definitely a district in play if they overplayed the gerrymandering.
So, of course, he’s not standing for re-election. But in favor of his equally corrupt brother, Trever.
I hope Troy’s remarks work as Death Nehls for the brother’s chances, too.
