NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

Both the things hanging off hitches and the walking and talking animated pair standing next to Trump in that photo.

See, KR has some fans who buy tickets to see him what-ever-he-does on stage, and KR might pass some of his money along to Felon-ONE, so Felon-ONE wants to make sure KR gets all of the gate and that evil people are not stealing money he could be making from him by scalping tickets. Most likely they would put a thing together that makes it possible to punish the buyers moreso than the scalpers.

I actually think it really is something along those lines. Probably not just KR, but a number of artists who he wants to cozy up with who want these changes.

Isn’t it the case that any money that scalpers make isn’t being made by Ticket Master?

It’s probably that simple.

That’s the part I don’t get about all this. If resellers can sell out a show when they’re charging several multiples of the face value of the ticket, why doesn’t Ticketmaster just charge that amount in the first place?

I mean, I would never pay $1000 for a concert, but apparently there are tens to hundreds of thousands of people who would, so why leave that money on the table? And if I were willing to pay that much, I’d want that money to go to the artist I’m willing to pay that much to see, not some random internet profiteer.

Tickermaster, insufficient campaign/inauguration contribution. Sad. But there is a way to make this little unpleasantry go away.

Years ago, we went downtown and got tickets at the box office. They were front row seats. Granted, it was just Al Franken, but still.

Because they’re ripping off not just the customers but the artists and others as well.

The artists get their cut based on the face value of the ticket.

The taxes and fees largely go to Ticketmaster but also, depending on how they structure local deals, to the venue, to the city/state, to promoters, and others. That overhead that used to get paid out of their cut of the face value of the ticket is getting explicitly carved out.

And Bonus, they advertise based on face value of tickets (“plus taxes and fees”) rather than a bottom line price. So they can say with a straight (ish) face that tickets cost $100 plus taxes and fees rather than $250 or whatever.

Many artists will try to steer away from Ticketmaster/Live Nation venues for these reasons, but it’s a oligopoly that controls nearly all the large venues in the country. Nice racket if you’re the ones raking in.

These days, Ticketmaster will let you resell your tickets for a markup on their own website.

LA gov Landry says it’s the Jews’ fault that voters rejected his slate of referendums 2-to-1.

Is there a large Jewish community in Louisiana?

Hardly - about 0.3% of the total US Jewish population.

It’s more plausible a bunch of Voodoo practitioners sent zombies to the polls to vote.

In reality I think people just didn’t like the proposals. Also sounds like the Black vote came out in force.

The Jew’s fault not the Jews’

Landry, for his part, claims that the amendments were defeated through the manipulation of liberal Jewish billionaire and philanthropist George Soros — a frequent scapegoat for Republicans.

Who, as everyone that knows their anti-Semitic lore, are just the shock troops of the Jews.

“Hand counting is one of the changes President Donald Trump is encouraging states to implement.” Missouri put on a demo.

In the Wednesday morning demonstration, a team of four read through a ballot, one person saying the number that corresponds with a specific result, another marking it in a spreadsheet. It took the team about an hour to get through a box of about 100 ballots.

Anna Paulina Luna introduced a resolution to allow House members who are new parents to vote by proxy.

Mike Johnson tried to quash the resolution but it passed anyway with almost entirely Democratic votes.

Now he’s adjourned the House for the rest of the week in a hissy fit over not getting his way.

Not sure whether this oughta go here or in stupid MFs, but apparently Steak & Shake went full fascist while nobody was looking.

Whelp - that’s one way to get me on the milkshake wagon.

Nothing makes a vanilla milkshake tastier than 100% beef tallow, sucked through a straw in your Cybertruck.

Are we giving an over/under on that being sarcasm? Any other year, and I’d be sure it was sarcasm.

Lauren Boebert tried score to some conspiracy points while grilling film director Oliver Stone during a hearing on the JFK assassination. Trouble is, she thought he was Trump confidant Roger Stone.
