As someone born in Rhodesia, four years before independence, I object to these fucking idiots expropriating my culture, but I imagine most of them could not place Zimbabwe on a map, nor Rhodesia on a 70s-era map.
Also, if you are going full on white supremacy, the old South African flag is more emblematic of stupid apartheid style laws; while still deeply bigoted and wrong, Rhodesia was apartheid-lite in comparison.
My observation across social networks is that a segment of the “conservative” macho-sphere does show itself a little too appreciative of Rhodesia.
I have joked that for some of them it’s down to a lot of their GenXers having grown up on Soldier of Fortune magazine and becoming fans of the Rhodesian special forces’ aesthetic of white lads in short shorts toting FALs.
Besides of course their holding Zimbabwe to be “proof” of what happens when you let THEM take over…

I’ll note that Dolly was very firm about staying out of politics. And I totally respected her for it. Some entertainers try to use their platform as a tool to make positive social change, through expressing political opinions, promoting causes, and endorsing political candidates. Others recognize that their expertise is in entertainment, not politics, and want to solely focus on that. And they want to spread joy and make a positive change in the world solely through such entertainment, without alienating fans or causing controversy through politics. I, personally, think both philosophies are equally valid, and Dolly just happened to embrace the latter.
She asserted that her main motive was not to divide and upset her fans. Parton added that her goal was not to “offend anybody.” The singer conveyed that even though they have free speech in the country, a person has “to be responsible for anything you say and do.” Parton also addressed the issue in a 2021 interview with People. She said that because she has so many fans, she needed to be mindful of her words.
Parton said, “I know whatever I say, people are going to listen, and they’re going to make more of it than maybe what I meant. So I have to be careful. Of course I have my opinion, but I’m not an opinionated person as a rule.”
On the other hand, Robert Reich, writing for The Guardian, points out that Dolly was the opposite of Trump in so many ways. She could serve as a rebuke to Trump just by being herself.

She added, “Milo is going to be deported back to the UK, where he can live among the Muslims he has recently chosen to embrace. Today is a great day for America.”
Milo is virulently anti-Muslim, and has stirred up a lot of controversy about it in the past. What does she base this “embrace” on? Did somebody online suggest exterminating all Muslims from the face of the planet, and Milo suggested only 95% of them?
I do love seeing the right tear itself apart. And it’s to be expected; put two rabid animals in a box together and they aren’t going to coexist peacefully for long.
Proving that even ICE, like a blind squirrel, can find a nut once in a while.

Ha ha ha! Milo Whatever is the one who claimed that Loomer bragged about giving Trump the ‘best blowjob of his life.’ True or not, it looks like someone got some sweet revenge. These people are scum. All of them.
What are they going to do? Give each other rabies?
She was pretty vocal about her support for Black Lives Matter.
“I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen,” Parton told the publication in August earlier this year. “Of course, black lives matter. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!”
Well, now, that seems odd. I see all manner of stories about ICE deporting people to random countries (whosoever agrees to receive deportees) that the deportees have no connection to. Why would they send Milo to the UK rather than, say, Equatorial Guinea?
