NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

Yes, that would have been prudent.

At this point I doubt that there are many expecting consistency (or even coherence) from Rudy.

I doubt there are many expecting sobriety or the ability to walk a straight line from Rudy these days

And that would be realistic.

(Sadly, the same could be said about Pete Hegseth—yet he’s riding pretty high in Republican esteem.)

Or at least Trump esteem, which is the only thing that matters among those circles. Rudy lost that a while back

I’m often involved in hiring (usually as part of an interview panel) for my state government agency. We have to be very careful what we ask. Nobody can prove what is in your head when you make a hiring decision, but they can prove what information you ask. So just don’t ask for information that would be inappropriate for making that decision.

Of course, people can volunteer whatever they want. They can show up in a MAGA hat or a Black Lives Matter t-shirt, and an employer could be biased against or toward someone because of it. And again, unless they’re stupid enough to actually admit it, you can’t ever prove they did.

The OPM saying it’s okay because it’s optional and they can’t use it for consideration are all bullshit. Just don’t hire people who choose not to answer the “optional” question, or anyone whose answer doesn’t clearly show loyalty to Trump. It seems like a very easy call for this judge. This shit is illegal for a reason.

I just wish there could be some real consequences for those making these decisions and not just a judge saying “stop”, but I have stopped expecting to see any of these criminals ever face real justice.

Is my brain the only one that wants this to rhyme? Gay-cist Ray-cist Fay-cists?

Stupid idea, evil idea, fuck Texas, … too many threads. Speaker Johnson abandons the Constitution, his own religion, any morals at all.

House Speaker Mike Johnson defended backing Texas Republican congressional candidate Brandon Herrera despite past remarks in which Herrera called a child a “cum trophy,” goose-stepped to Nazi music and joked about killing older people.

Johnson called the remarks “detestable” but said Herrera had been trying to get attention as part of his “persona online.”

“He’s now running as a very serious candidate for Congress and a very thoughtful guy,” Johnson said, adding that Herrera had apologized.

He apologized, well that makes everything better. Raping children, killing people, genocide of the Jews - How forgiving of you Speaker Johnson. Your fake religiosity will get you damned to hell (like there’s a hell).

Yet I’m guessing Mike Johnson is less forgiving of comments by Hasan Piker. And that he even goes so far as to attribute Piker’s sentiments to “All Democrats.”

Mike rolls that way.

And even of comments not made by Hasan Piker.

But attributed to him? Yes, that seems not unlikely.

Mike is quite possibly due to have an even more prominent role in US history in less than four months. All he has to do is replace the current House clerk with one more explicitly MAGA—and then on January 3, said clerk will decline to read the names of Democrats elected on November 3. This will mean that only Republicans will be seated in the House, constituting the 120th Congress.

No doubt Mike can frame this to himself as being God’s Will.

Yup, including ones attributed to him by nobody but Mike Johnson, and including on occasions before the actual Piker was born.

Giulani shares what he said to Mayor Mamdani during the handshake felt around the world.

Too bad Hizzoner wasn’t raised in Dixie. Then he’d’ve known the correct response to Giulani’s comment is “Bless your heart.”

And nice bit of bigotry from Carbonetti.

Wow, that actually bears some resemblance to class.

Who’da thunk?

In that grand Republican tradition of blaming Obama for those of his Presidential decisions that led to 9/11 (etc.).

Give me an N! Give me an A! Give me..well, you know where this is headed.

Today Kash Patel defended his bold stance in favor of hiring FBI agents with a history of participating in bestiality:

Turns out that Kash apparently has some number of applicants who participated in bestiality, but did so unwillingly. So they can now become FBI agents.

Huzzah!!!

I would argue that anyone who is literally forced did not “participate” in anything, and this is a ridiculous and completely false excuse. That’s like saying someone “participated” in a mugging and therefore are not suited for law enforcement if someone held them up at gunpoint and took their wallet. This seems more like a change to allow specific people known to sexually abuse animals into the agency, and he’s making up a bullshit scenario to handwave it away.

<90s>Well, duh</90s>

“Sure, he may be a known zoophile but he is the best digital intelligence investigator in his class!”

Tim Waltz was right on his campaign point: These people are weird.
