NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

She was also one of those Mike Lindell types who denied the result of any election she didn’t win, including primaries within the Republican party. A real winner there

I remember the failed governor race, as that came up a lot when she was in the national news, but forgot about the senate race.

“I didn’t mean any of that. That’s just something you say.”

TX school district shuts down a high school production of Little Shop of Horrors for being “sexually-oriented” because they cast a girl as Seymour.

Kansas gubernatorial candidate accuses his opponent of being a witch because he doesn’t understand Gen Z humor.

“Like I said, my opponent, she didn’t even hide it,” Masterson added. “She talked—they had witch—I mean, they’re doing like witchcraft spells on TikTok so she can win the governorship. I mean, they’re like … it’s like demonic stuff that they’re doing, right? Just in your face that way.”

The state senator had seemingly drawn his conclusions from a series of playful TikTok videos posted by Holscher’s 20-year-old daughter, Maddie, who had shared clips of her and her mom brushing their teeth set to a song from the Wicked soundtrack.

“Casting a spell so my mom wins Kansas Governor except she’s so done with me,” Maddie Holscher captioned one clip from April, in which she waves her arms around her mother.

When was the last time any school production of any play didn’t have a girl playing some male role?

Heck, the felon-in-the-oval didn’t even know that. And that alone raises the question, yet to be answered, if he didn’t know it’s part of the US, why was he even there?

What are you, a journalist, doing recording me at a public event?

What a maroon.

@Dewey_Finn

Awesome! I just found the handicapped placard Harris uses.

Of course what the Fascists want is that the law restricts anyone from recording or publishing whatever the Fascists don’t want recorded or published. They have rights. Nobody else does.

I think in the case of Representative Andy Harris, this wasn’t about a fascist who wanted to control others but instead simply someone who got flustered and lashed out. (When he suggested “Democrats’ environmental regulations” were the cause of high diesel fuel prices, he got laughed at. And note that the person asking the question was a graduate student in journalism at the state university. That’s someone I would expect would be well aware of the rules, though they were obvious in this case.

And BTW, CBS News suggested why the congressman might have acted.

“If the congressman is having a conversation with journalists whom he invited into a public venue, then the congressman would not have an expectation of privacy, meaning what we would refer to as a two-party consent rule would not be applicable,” [attorney Jeremy] Eldridge said.

In 2019, a college student at Salisbury University was charged with illegally streaming a meeting with a congressional staffer for Harris.

Eldridge said that earlier case may help explain why Harris was particularly sensitive to the issue, but he said the circumstances of Tuesday’s exchange were different.

“This congressman in particular has been the victim of illegal wiretapping previously and that matter was prosecuted in the Maryland court system,” Eldridge said. “So the congressman is probably sensitive to this issue, but in this situation, the congressman was wrong on the law.”

All the more reason why he should have understood what the law actually says.

Surely one can’t be expected to understand a law like this when one is busy serving one’s eighth term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

I think he knows what the law actually says. I think he was just hoping that the young woman reporter wouldn’t know what the law actually says, and thought he might be able to intimidate her. Notice during his diesel prices spiel, he only singled out women in the crowd when men were laughing at him too. Fucking misogynist coward.

You misspelled “Loyal Trump Sycophant”. They’re all taking their lead from him, even if they’re enjoying the role.

I was trying to find that video in context because people keep responding to that tiny clip. I finally found something with enough context to see the actual point he was making.

He was talking about people becoming desensitized to content that would normally be shocking just because they are being constantly inundated by it. And that context doesn’t make his comment any less weird.

So…is there a Mrs. Ed?

Oh, Tucker. Not the livestock.
