NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

Yeah, Superman is the ultimate “undocumented alien” who came to Earth seeking refuge. There’s no way to separate that from his story and still have “Superman”. A literal alien who adopts the US and its ideals (well, what used to be its ideals) as his own, who struggles to fit in, who always feel somewhat an outsider, yet is willing to fight for his adopted land.

How to deal with the fact that Martha and Jonathan Kent’s very informally adopted son (there was NO legal steps involved, they basically lied and said he was theirs) being, legally, an undocumented i.e. illegal alien has been dealt with in various ways going all the way back to the original origin story.

I wonder of the Whack-A-Doodle crowd wants to deport Kal-El to a El Salvadorian concentration camp prison? Hilarity wound ensue, I’m sure.

Personally, I’m a little ambivalent about yet another Superman movie. Like many I have my favorites and my less-favorites among the movies and TV series, but that’s OK. He’s the sort of cultural icon who is re-invented over and over, like a lot of mythological heroes. I have my favs and non-favs among Robin Hood, King Arthur, and Sherlock Holmes, Norse mythology, adaptions too. Others that don’t immediately come to mind. I even have a passing familiarity with the two major versions of Gilgamesh. I’ll probably watch this new Superman movie when it goes to streaming because my current illness keeps me mostly at home, but I hope it does well at the box office and I hope it has a decent plot, compelling story, and some gratuitous super-punching.

And if it totally sucks I’ll go back to watch Superman and Lois to take the taste of out of my mouth, or maybe Lois and Clark, the New Adventures of Superman if I feel like a more humorous approach.

I’ve mentioned this elsewhere on the board, but legally, Superman is a native-born citizen. Foundlings are legally assumed to have been born in the place where they were found, and while that presumption can be challenged, it can only be challenged until the foundling reaches adulthood, after which point their status is set in stone.

But yeah, “social justice warrior” is pretty much part of the definition of “superhero”. Fighting for social justice is what they do. Superman’s original enemies included the KKK and the union-busting Pinkertons.

On a facebook town hall page, someone is asking what they need to do to enroll their unvaccinated kids into school. Most people are telling them that you just need to fill out an exemption form. One person said:

You just need a waiver. Use the religious exemption. I have coworkers from other countries (here legally) that do not vax their children- no problems. And with RFK jr telling everyone that 1 in 9 children have autism due to vaccines, I wouldn’t vax my children either nor myself.

Who the fuck is taking advice from RFK jr? And as I typed that out, I realize it’s the same people that were taking advice from Jenny McCarthy/Andrew Wakefield.

I wonder how long, if ever, it’ll take for the parents of unvaccinated kids to realize that not only did their kids get sick more often, but they’re just as likely to be autistic as kids that were vaccinated.

I’d bet they’ll blame it on Secret Vaccines THEY put in the food.

No way they’d ever notice their own failures.

“We don’t go to the movie theater to be lectured to and to have somebody throw their ideology onto us,” says Kellyanne Conway, who gets paid to lecture us and throw her ideology onto us.

One option: Just let all of your kids die of measles; then you won’t need to enroll them in school.

There you have it: FauxNews is unquestionably opposed to Truth, Justice and the American Way.

Jesus, I just had a flash of being subjected to pro-Trump and MAGA public service announcements at the movies. Maybe in-between the trailers and the reminder to turn your phone off.

Overly dramatic music and voice-overs, Trump depicted as a superhero [I made a typo–suerhero and realized that works, too], and the plagiarized message that it’s Trump who is actually fighting for truth, justice, and the American Way!

And Hitler. Don’t forget that. There was a cover with Superman punching Hitler back in WWII days.

That just shows how deep this all goes. Those SJWs have been planning this for DECADES!!!1!

So you’re saying, he’s a violent antifa?

Ha ha ha - good one.

On the other hand:

It seems not everyone is welcome in Idaho after the state’s attorney general ordered schools to prohibit signs that read “Everyone is Welcome Here” under a new state law.

H.B. 4, which went into effect July 1, bans the display of banners or flags in K-12 classrooms that represent “political, religious, or ideological views, including but not limited to political parties, race, gender, sexual orientation, or political ideologies.” Republican Raúl Labrador issued guidance on how schools should apply the law, determining that the policy applies even to vague messages promoting kindness.

Labrador specifically referenced signs hung by Sarah Inama, a sixth grade history teacher at Lewis and Clark Middle School who went viral in March after she revealed that Ada School District administration ordered her to remove signs in her classroom that read “In This Room, Everyone Is Welcome, Important, Accepted, Respected, Encouraged, Valued, Equal,” and “Everyone Is Welcome Here.”

“These signs are part of an ideological/social movement which started in Twin Cities, Minnesota following the 2016 election of Donald Trump,” he wrote. “Since that time, the signs have been used by the Democratic party as a political statement. The Idaho Democratic Party even sells these signs as part of its fundraising efforts.”

(Emphasis added)

Idaho. Of course.

Yup. Idaho.

Hey, there are decent people in Idaho. I believe I have met both of them, though that one guy in Wallace, that was nearly 30 years ago, he might not still be there.

…I just realized why the bombing raid against Iran was flown all the way from Missouri. It wasn’t because Trump wanted to show off our ability to project force. It’s because some DoD staffer suggested the obvious flight plan, of using the bombers based much closer, in Diego Garcia, and Trump thought he was talking about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, and said absolutely not.

I’m surprised that Trump didn’t jump at the chance to drop Kilmar Abrego Garcia onto Iran from a bomber.

Wearing a cowboy hat?

The worst part is that the teacher who resigned could probably make twice as much money as a bartender. Wouldn’t have to buy her own supplies, either.
