NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

Ardently!

Heck he’s a violent a Socialist.

Let’s hope they don’t discover that many superheroes are . . . Jews!

How would you circumcise Superman?

With a kryptonite izmel of course.

Kryptonite blade.

Wielded by the very obscure supervillain, Megamohel.

I saw Superman’s Penis once. They opened for The Kryptones. At least, I think that was what I saw – it was some pretty darn good indica.

Congressman Burchett of Tennessee believes in time travel!

Time travel is the only way those files could have appeared on Bondi’s desk during this administration after they were destroyed by the previous administration.

Who’s Bondi? Matt Gaetz is the AG. Where have you been? (cue Back To The Future theme music).

Or, maybe the deep state…

So Pam Bondi has been co-opted by the Deep State? How far into the current administration does it extend?

No, no, no. The deep state hired the cleaning staff. One of them took the report from Bondi’s desk and burned it. They then broke into the systems to remove any electronic copies or proof. Yeah, I’m sure that the Deep State™ has infiltrated the staffs of Trump’s Cabinet, but all of his direct reports have no depth whatsoever.

Oh of course, you know all but ethics keeps you from naming names…

Wisconsin republicans are hinting at passing a bill that would cut the pay of judges that are suspended. Clearly aimed at Dugan, the Wisconsin judge that was arrested. If this goes through it’ll be a lot easier for lawmakers to lean on judges to get what they want.

It seems to me that the obvious retaliation is to cut the pay to police officers that are suspended during an investigation.

It goes even deeper that that! Bondi, Biden, do I need to draw you a map?!?!

I debated whether to put this here or in one of the Medicare threads, but it does seem to be a SRI (the article should be free to read; if not, my apologies):

“H.R. 3467, To amend title XVIII to reform the Medicare Advantage program,” was introduced on May 15, 2025. This bill would automatically enroll millions of people into a Medicare Advantage plan they didn’t choose and then lock them there for three years. While H.R. 3467 hasn’t gone far (yet), the fine print deserves your attention.

-------------------------

Beginning January 1, 2028, anyone entitled to benefits under Part A and enrolled in Part B will be enrolled automatically into the Medicare Advantage plan with the lowest premium that is available. If there are multiple lowest-cost premium plans available, the Secretary will determine a method for choosing the plan. After being enrolled automatically, there will be an opportunity to opt-out.

-------------------------

There’s little doubt that automatic enrollment in the lowest-cost premium plan could lead to coverage and cost issues.

But this bill offers an opt-out opportunity so why worry? There is reason to worry because chances are the individual may not opt out. They forget, don’t know how to do it, or it’s just too much work. One example: A report on the NIH website notes that only 16% of low-income-subsidy drug plan enrollees opted out of the drug plan chosen for them. That means 84% did nothing, even though they had the opportunity.

-------------------------

I have seen a few posts about H.R. 3467. Everyone expresses concern about automatic enrollment but not one mentioned the following point.

Anyone who enrolls in a Medicare Advantage plan beginning January 1, 2028, cannot enroll in any other plan or choose to receive traditional fee-for-service Medicare Part A or Part B for a three-year-period.

(Bolding mine)

Bottom line, it looks like the “Keep the government’s hands off my Medicare!” voices have been heard.

Trump, for no apparent reason, wants Rosie O’Donnell deported.

My initial assumption was that this is a test case for him. To see if he can revoke the citizenship of someone born in America (to American born parents?). It would make sense since she’s out of the country already and likely harder for her to fight back. But I’d be surprised if he would try that on someone so well known, and with money/connections first.

Something must’ve set him off. I wonder if he heard that she left the country because of him.
While I’m betting nothing will become of it, it’s important to remember Trump is generally serious about this kind of stuff. While I doubt anything will come from this specific case, this is him, yet again, suggesting Americans be deported.
