NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

If SCOTUS is in the bag for Trump then there’s little that Congress can do without a supermajority other than play spoiler, but even that will help.

As the guy who fell from the top of the Empire State building was heard to remark as he passed the 85th floor, “So far, so good.”

The pot of petunias, curiously, was heard to say, “Oh, no, not again.

As long as he has MAGA, he has power. Congress and SCOTUS are just a nice bonus.

There is truth to that.

I’m not sure that he sees it that way.

Transportation Secretary and interim NASA administrator Sean Duffy has announced plans to build a nuclear reactor on the moon.

The first country to have a reactor could “declare a keep-out zone which would significantly inhibit the United States,” the directive states, a sign of the agency’s concern about a joint project China and Russia have launched.

Craven Critter Cruze gets his can handed to him for his bigoted inanity. (The bolding is mine.)

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has lashed out at Republican Sen. Ted Cruz after he mocked her for wearing a headscarf at a Muslim police officer’s funeral.

Hochul, a Democrat, was paying her respects at the funeral of Didarul Islam, 36, a New York City police officer, who was one of four killed in a shooting last Monday in Midtown.

A picture of the governor sat beside New York City Mayor Eric Adams at the service was posted by an anonymous conservative account with the caption “Why in TF is the Governor of New York wearing a ****** hijab?!”

Cruz, who represents Texas, added “Um, wut?” in response on X.

Hochul hit back at the senator in a post explaining: “I wore a headscarf to honor a fallen Muslim NYPD officer at his funeral.

“Respecting a grieving family’s faith is “wut” leaders and anyone with basic decency would do.”

Cruz doubled down in a further post on Sunday. “I agree,” he posted. “You should wear a hijab every day because you are so damn decent. Never mind the rights of women in New York…not your concern.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned Cruz’s “despicable” remarks, and called on him to apologize.

“If Ted Cruz has any remaining sense of human decency, he will apologize to both the family of slain New York City Police Department Officer Didarul Islam and Governor Kathy Hochul for his despicable and disrespectful conduct,” the statement said.

“Senator Cruz should be ashamed of himself for daring to use a murdered Muslim NYPD officer’s funeral as an opportunity to amplify anti-Muslim hate.”

“The fact that Mr. Cruz has repeatedly shown respect for Jewish beliefs by wearing a yarmulke at Jewish sacred spaces makes his attack on Governor Hochul for similarly respecting a Muslim space all the more hateful and hypocritical,” the statement continued.

“The next time Mr. Cruz visits a Catholic church, he should look up, notice the statues depicting Mary mother of Jesus, may God’s peace be upon them, wearing a scarf, and then ask himself why he hates the sight of the hijab so much.”

Also, if Cruz is so all-fired concerned about the rights of women, he should leave the Republican party posthaste.

How else can he afford all of that soup?

I thought Greene was the soup nazi.

This implies that Ted Cruz had a sense of human decency to begin with.

Or sense.

“Rights of women”, yeah, you are entitled to talk about that, you worthless bag of turds. Fuck off to Mexico and fail to come back.

The best description I’ve seen for Cruz is “A swarm of a hundred rats wearing a human skin-suit, where each rat is a swarm of a thousand cockroaches wearing a rat skin-suit”.

Or is human.

In 2017, then-Senator Al Franken said on CNN, “I probably like Ted Cruz more than most of my colleagues like Ted Cruz, and I hate Ted Cruz. And I make an exception with him because he is a toxic coworker, and to get anything done in the Senate, you’ve got to be collegial. You’re a small town of 100 people. Ted doesn’t get anything done. His big accomplishment was shutting down the government.”

Wouldn’t construction of a nuclear reactor on the moon also imply/require the establishment of a lunar colony? The article is very vague on this point, and seems to concentrate on the idea that the first nation to build a nuclear reactor on the moon will establish supremacy as the sole reason for the US doing so.

More importantly, didn’t they just cut the NASA budget?

The Keystone Cops were better organized than these clowns

I don’t understand why a country would establish any sort of dominance by being the first to put a nuclear reactor on the moon. It’s a pretty big place so there could be multiple reactors (and presumably lunar colonies) that are nowhere near each other. Although in my mind, something as big, expensive and complex as a nuclear-powered lunar colony is something that ought to be built cooperatively.

You’re expecting any sort of sense or rationality? Good for you, I guess

They’ll be lucky if NASA is able to even get a live human being to the moon’s surface and back in that timeframe, given the rather evident lack of competence in the administration

I’m just worried that the nuclear waste might explode, sending the moon flying out of Earth’s orbit and into deep space. Hey, it could happen.
