Thank you.
Occam’s Razor says that they’re full of shit and the flag looked like that to the naked eye.
If it’s some elaborate visual effect via polarized film or something, surely they can demonstrate it.
Or, as common sense will tell you, they got caught and are trying a variation of the pathetic “it wasn’t me I got hacked” excuse.
It’s RFK Jr. time. Not content with curing autism, measles, and ending vaccine research; Que up the wild conspiracy snipe hunt.
Every day the current administration tries to outdo that of President Camacho‘s administration in Idiocracy. Having only seen clips of the film, I keep meaning to watch the whole movie, but think it would be too depressing and also feel like watching a documentary.
If only it were a documentary. It actually ends on a relatively positive note, because while Camacho et al. are really stupid, they aren’t evil and vicious. They have an honest desire to fix their problems, and they realize that they need help to do that. There are set-backs for dramatic and comedic purposes, but in the end, they succeed because they listened to good advice.
If there was a special election tomorrow and it put President Camacho up against Trump for the presidency, I would fucking CAMPAIGN for Camacho.
Yeah, I mean, even granted that he was an idiot, Camacho was a pretty good President. He recognized the biggest problem facing his nation, he acknowledged that it was his responsibility, he found the person best-qualified to deal with that problem, he gave that person the authority and resources needed to solve the problem, and as a result, the problem got solved. That’s how presidentin’ should work.
It sounds like I really should watch the whole movie! But now I’m worried that while the original intent of the film was apparently to paint an exaggerated picture of a dumbed-down society (and presidential administration), it will instead look better than the current Trump administration and Republican Party.
Trump and his administration are completely uninterested in solving problems.
If Camacho was a developmentally disabled janitor, trump is a sociopathic vandal. One is trying for good, albeit feebly. The other is vigorously trying for bad.
Pretty obvious who’s better and why.
I find it a little hard to believe that the American swastika flag was unintentional when on the same wall was a map of an annexed Canada.
They want to solve the problem of living with non-white, or non-Christian, or non-rich, or non-straight or immigrant, or liberal persons.
It wasn’t actually a map of an annexed Canada - it was a Rorschach ink blot. Some people see a 51st state, some people see a godless, socialist wasteland, and some people see what a civilized country is supposed to look like.
Oh yes, now that is a real problem with the new modern context of the film. Watch it, and you’ll be out here with us, campaigning for Camacho. “Camacho - That’s what he thought!”
Wiskey Pete Kegsbreath wears a Russian tie to meet with the Ukrainians in DC. I’m sure a wardrobe accident.
Yeah, but…
The ending of the movie showed the smart couple having 3 kids and the other having a bunch, implying the situation would keep getting worse.
I’m going to guess that antisemitism will be defined as “any criticism of anything Israel does” but they will ignore the alt right joking about Jewish stereotypes and holocaust advocacy.
There is also a fair amount of mixed messaging as the Republicans try to portray the no kings protest as anti-semetic and also sponsored by Soros.
It’s actually pretty easy to parse the MAGA / RW wackjob position on that stuff.
They hate Jews & by extension, Israel. They just hate Palestinians more.
IOW:
My enemy’s lesser enemy is still my enemy, even if I sometimes say nice things about parts of them when they’re killing my greater enemy.
With a very large side order of
We love violent authoritarians no matter what they stand for as long as they’re slaughtering their internal underdogs and / or their external enemies.
Which does make it very hard for MAGA / RW wackjobs to develop a position on any real world situation that sounds consistent to anyone but one of their own True Believers. Those folks will buy any dog’s breakfast of inconsistency as long as there’s enough hate sauce poured over it.
I’m sure this has nothing to do with the No Kings rallies…
Interstate 5 will be closed “due to a White House-directed military event at Camp Pendleton involving live ammunition being discharged over the freeway," Caltrans said.
“The President is putting his ego over responsibility with this disregard for public safety. Firing live rounds over a busy highway isn’t just wrong – it’s dangerous,” Newsom said in a statement. "Using our military to intimidate people you disagree with isn’t strength – it’s reckless, it’s disrespectful, and it’s beneath the office he holds. Law and order? This is chaos and confusion.”
The really scary part is that they’re calling it “realistic training”.
