Today’s plans: a trip to the dentist and new fillings! Better now than later I suppose.
Happy Monday everyone!
I got my second bee sting Saturday. My first one was when I was eight. This one was offshore in the kayak.
I didn’t make mini-frittatas on the weekend, so I don’t have any for breakfast. I had a Vegemite sandwich instead.
Oh, it is about to pour here in western Mitten State. It’s noon ish, and so dark I had to turn on a lamp.
C’mon, storm. We see you a-comin’ so just do your groovy thang!
if it wouldnt wash away the dirt were built on I wish it would rain for about a month
Ah, there’s that rain. Oh, daaayuuuummm it be pourin’ out there!
Happy Moonday!
NIce morning at the park, N.O.S. 63 degrees.
I wasn’t the only one in long sleeves.
Fairly relaxing morning, all dogs who get along. Rocky, a mini dachshund/yorkie? mix came back today. He comes on the big dog side because he doesn’t know he is small. Later three other newbies came in, Lucy2 the Siberian, who plays really well with Echo. Fenrir, the Shiba Inu and Chuckie. Chuckie, the pittie, who has enough energy for ten dogs. He is like a little tornado when he rushes into the park. He’s going to be bred soon and then neutered. that should help calm him down.
Echo doesn’t like Chuckie a lot, but he doesn’t give a damn when she growls at him. All he wants to do is play, except today he wanted to get frisky with Lucy2 and she wasn’t having any of that kind of play.
Poor Ripple does his best to stay out of their way.
Nothing new around here, unless you count new collars and leashes, and of course, new dog park friends.
My nieces are planning a crab feast get together for the whole family, at my mother’s request. They can juggle the date and time; my son and I can work around it. He needs to be able to give his job 24-hour notice, I told them 48, if it’s on an irk day for him. Lately, he has no idea what is going on in regards to OT, so he does need notice. My job is flexible.
I think we may spend the night there so I need to figure out something with the cat. I could leave a big bowl of food and water outside, and of course every other cat in the neighborhood would eat it. I’ll think about boarding him, just in case we stay longer than expected. He doesn’t like the heat, so probably won’t like staying outside. Then again, he probably won’t like boarding either.
I’m allergic to bee stings, or at least the doctor told me I am based on a spider bite.
I will swell a lot around the sting site, but have never had anaphylaxis from a sting. Each time I have been stung/bitten the reaction was worse. I haven’t been stung in years and do my best to avoid bees, hornets, wasps, and spiders.
A tarantula in the house?
That’d be really surprising in this area.
The only new thing going on in my life right now is; I finally decided to relocate one of the faucets under the deck. I’d already relocated the other one (actually extended it) over to the edge of the deck so we didn’t have to duck-walk under there to turn it on and off (ouch!)
This one I decided should go up on top of the deck so Wifey could better water all the plants she just planted in planters up there. So anyway, yesterday I cut a wee hole in the deck and got started. I had a great long bit of pipe and I thought I had the little bitty bit of pipe to fit things together. Nope. Today I’m gonna have to walk down to the hardware store to procure another. It’s 77f degrees now, heading for ~96f, but I want to wait until after the mail gets sorted so I can stop at the post office on the way. Two birds and all that.
Anyway, that’s all from here.
Y’all be careful out there.
When we were moving into our first place, we found a Tarantula in a box in an attached storage room. We took the box outside and slid the tarantula out and it tried to go right back into the storage room. Hubs tapped the toe of his boot on the ground in front of the tarantula in an attempt to convince it to go elsewhere and it got mad and reared up and threatened him with two of its front-most legs. It was most impressive.
I like tarantulas and I think the tarantula wasps’ breeding habits are horrifying so I’ll try to wack tarantula wasps when I see them. I’ve never managed to kill one, they fight back, but I’ve also never been stung (supposed to be one of the most painful stings in the world) so I guess that’s a win.
I have a new birdbath to put together. Our old one was made of some sort of concrete looking stuff that couldn’t take the sun. It started cracking and peeling and I couldn’t keep it clean. Hopefully this one will last a little longer.
Good luck on the job search, shoe. Hopefully you will be getting a call back from the dispensary today.
Have a great week, everyone!
Sonny Boy got off to a late start due to issues with one of the old dogs, so here I am. Parmesan Basil Chicken Salad is chilling, fancy lemon cupcakes are ready, so as soon as they get here and the dogs have been scritched and given treats, we can have lunch.
@kitap I’d love to see a tarantula stamp its feet. I don’t mind spiders, and Mom taught me to release them outside. However, I do find tarantulas a little creepy .They’d have much better PR if they ever bothered to shave their legs. Just sayin’.
Oo! You should totally become a hoochie-koochie dancer, shoe! How much fun would that be to put on your tax return? And it would horrify your parents. (Who seem awfully easy to horrify, by the way. What’d they do, climb under a rock in 1952 and refuse to come out?) Anyway, when they clutch their collective pearls, you could say, “OK, make up your minds. Sex or drugs, which is it going to be?”
Aaaaaand he’s off!
Sounds like an adult Chuck E. Cheese.
[Buddy dutifully waits 2.7 seconds.] “Wanna play, Allie? Huh? Huh? Wanna play?”
Taters, hope the SD says no to you helping pack stuff up. I’d think once you do that, you confirm the impression you’re their servant, and your job is to pack for them. No? In any case, hope this week is smoother than last.
Oopsie, glad the creative juices are flowing. We need artists of all kinds more than ever.
The party’s over…They’ve burst your pretty balloon
I went into a Dave & Buster’s last month for the first time in many years. I used to love D&B’s when I was younger.
Walked around the arcade and didn’t see one single game that I was remotely interested in playing.
I felt very old.
We did lunch at Salsa’s, then ran over to the boat to get a measurement for the thermo-relay units FCD is putting together. They’ll turn the engine room blowers on when it starts getting too warm down there, and turn them off when the temp drops. We decided to install them in place of three brown plastic cover plates that are over some random holes. Once we got home, FCD set about designing the assembly.
I donned work gloves, grabbed the nippers and the yard cart, and went out to deadhead the daylilies and iris. I also pulled some weeds and picked up fallen branches - maybe 90 minutes in all? It started feeling too hot (low 80s, and humid) when I quit. I got a good bit done today, so that’s good.
Supper will be ham steak, cabbage, and local corn. Till then, chillage!
A few weeks ago I ordered a lamp to give to the Spousal Unit on her birthday (November) or Christmas. It was only after I ordered it that I looked at Amazon and saw that they were selling it for about eight times what I paid for it. Uh, oh. I got a tracking number from the seller last week. Yesterday I checked it to see where the package was, and USPS said it was delivered - picked up by individual. Huh? I was unable to reach anyone at the Post Office today, so I went up on my lunch break. They checked the number, and their system shows that it was delivered to an address completely unlike mine, miles away. They had a partial image of the package, and it looked like one of those brown, padded envelopes – not something you’d deliver a lamp in. I’ve emailed the vendor for an explanation.
I saw some ‘scam alert’ reviews on their Facebook page. Someone said it took a long time to get a refund, and then their FB account was hacked. I’m wondering if I’ve been scammed, or if somehow they just sent me the wrong tracking number.
I think my favorite protein shake has been discontinued!
Fairlife coffee Nutrition Plan shakes have been really hard to find for a while (nearly impossible in person; online there’s usually a markup and long delivery waits), and today I noticed that “coffee” no longer appears on the company’s web site as a flavor/option. I went to their FB page and asked for confirmation of whether that variety has been discontinued…I’m still waiting for a response, but I think I know the answer. I’m so bummed. I’d recently found some via Amazon, and placed an order for four 12-packs: they were supposed to arrive this week, but over the weekend I got a notification that delivery was delayed and not expected until the 21st…which is when I go out of town for a long weekend. I couldn’t imagine that they’d still be safe to drink after 3-4 days in the July sun, so I cancelled the order.
Strawberry has been very hard to find, too – my last two order attempts were cancelled by the sellers due to lack of stock – but at least that flavor still appears on the Fairlife site.
I know this is totally a first-world problem and a super Mundane and Pointless complaint, but I’m required to have at least two high-protein shakes every day so it’s kind of a thing for me. It took me a while to discover the Fairlife products: they have the only shakes that aren’t cloyingly sweet, and I have one of their coffee shakes every morning. Sometimes it’s my second shake, too, if I just can’t face one of the other brands/flavors in my fridge. It’s crazy to think that the ones I have left could be my last ones. These companies are going to drive me to start making my own, which may force me to do my offended tarantula impression!
So you didn’t order it from Amazon? Where’d you order it from?
I hope it was just a mistake and you weren’t scammed!
Set up a GoFundMe and we’ll throw in a few cents for each spider dance!
No, it was from a Facebook ad. I should have remembered my last experience.
Wifey, RN calls her patients the day before she visits. A family member told her that her patient died last week. That’s in addition to the one who had died a couple of weeks ago, and she found out about last week. She came home between patients today, and came home early. It turns out this afternoon’s patient, whom she’d left a message for, died last week. The family was clearing out the apartment when she got there. She’d only seen her twice as a foot care nurse, but she had seen her before when she was a home-health nurse.
Afternoon all. Swimmin’ has been completed, backstroked a mile in 60:40 and along with sauna and whirlpool I’m down to 282.2 lbs; still too much weight, but much better than I was a year ago. Towels are in the dryer for a few minutes and since I ate out last night I’ll eat in tonight (usually Moandays are my eat-out day; other days are what I have at home). Otherwise a pretty quite day.
I’m afraid I have more than a little case of arachnophobia, so putting the eight-legged horrors outside is more than I can manage, and tarantulas are right out…one reason I never moved to areas frequented by them. But good on those who do have the nerves to preserve them.
Flyboy, fix your RN wife something nice for dinner (or take her out); likely she is a bit depressed by all that, even if it has no bearing on what she did for them. I know it would depress me.
Oopsie, hope they reinstate your coffee shake, or you can find an acceptable substitute.
JtC, I hope the new item is for the birds…wait, that didn’t come out right…
Bumba, good luck with the plumbing.
Sunny, hope the dentist was painless.
Oopsie, hope the singin’ goes well. Here’s a little Warner Brother’s clip to help out: Owl Jolson "i love to singa" - YouTube
VanGo, great news on the sales. Just find enough motivation to get to the shop, the rest will follow.
OK, time for my TV watchin’; all y’all take care.
I would, but she doesn’t eat dinner during the week; just yoghurt, popcorn, and bananas. Anything else, and she risks her stomach keeping her up all night.
Too late to add text:
Wifey, RN calls her patients the day before she visits. A family member told her today that her patient she was supposed to see tomorrow died last week.
So she found out about that one this morning, and the third one when she showed up at the patient’s apartment.
Wifey, RN just asked if we could go up to Drayton Harbor Oyster Company for oysters and beer tonight. She says she’s sad. So she will eat tonight.
Good luck on the job hunt shoe!
That was a good thing you did for the tarantula kitap.
My new thing will be a new glass coffee mug for irk sometime this week. I knocked it out of my locker when getting my purse out this afternoon. Whatever I get has to be clear, and given that I don’t do plastic with tea or coffee, I’ll likely buy a replacement one by Ball.
Other than that, I was sleepy all day and took a 10 minute power nap once home.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Howdy Y’all! Da cave got spiffed and sup got fixed and et. Beyond that we have worked on our sloth and nappage skills. It’s supposed to rain anytime now. We shall see.
Sunny hope the dentist was not too ouchy.
BooFae since the PSWSLNS are Ninjas, stompin’ would not be a wise decision no matter how much they want to stomp.
kit glad y’all let the tarantula go. However, it may be plannin’ on revenge, so beware!
