New things in the MMP

Shortly after SIL dropped off the Tobester, I buckled him in my car and we headed to Food Lion. All the little old ladies shopping this morning were charmed by him, but he is adorable when he’s all smiley and happy. I got most of what I wanted but the cashier hit Pay before I gave her my coupons, so I lost out on something like $3!!! The horror!!! I bought stuff specifically because of the coupons - I didn’t need frozen cauliflower right now. Oh well…

Once we got home and I got the perishables into the house, I gave the babby his bottle, and he drifted off to nap-land. That gave me a chance to finish stowing groceries and to get a load in the washer. It’ll be hot enough that I can hang it all out and it’ll dry. So two loads on the agenda today. Till the first one is done, chillage time!!! In quiet!!!

Aaaand the run of bad luck continues, dammit. It occurred to me last night to check to see if the low WBC could be tied to the anti-itch injections. Yep, particularly in women my age. I don’t know if there’s any way to increase the WBC (@BippityBoppityBoo, is there?) or if I’m going to have to go off the injections, which leaves me with steroids, which can’t be taken long-term. In the meantime, I guess I’m more vulnerable to infections, and with the new Covid variant that doesn’t care if you’re fully vaxxed or not, I’m concerned, especially just before my trip to Chicago.

I’m having serious contact lens trouble. My old one (I can only wear a contact in R. eye.) developed a small tear in it, and it’s very painful to wear. No problem! I got a spare last month! Put in the new one. It sticks up off the cornea on one side, is painful, and I can’t see out of it. Called the eye clinic. All they can do is order another, and it’ll take a few weeks to come in (custom made). Looks like I’ll be traveling in a blur. :frowning: And no, glasses aren’t an option, as they don’t correct my vision.

Sorry to be a gloomy Gus. I wish I had better news.

Yeah, well, my parents were all UP in my kool-aid about a job opening that turned out to be a complete scam, so … fun times all 'round.

On a side note, old white men give the absolute WORST advice sometimes. Ugh.

Starting over on the whole job thing. Again.

ETA: got some laundry done. Yay, almost through that pile.

Hey! I’m an old white man, and… okay, fair point.

But we all know you’re a superstar; it just takes one potential employer to see that too.

Nellie, sorry for all your troubles. Hope you enjoy your Chicago trip anyway.

Thanks. I kinda like bein’ around.

nellie :people_hugging:

It’s very smoky around here today. We’re told it’s the fire in Yosemite and also “it’s not that smoky, quit your whining”. I’d rate it at, “The hills are visible, if I squint”; “the air can be tasted, but isn’t chewy”.

There are medicines that can help-a hematologist (blood specialist) would be the one to diagnose and prescribe to help with low white blood counts. Leucopenia happens most severely with cancer treatments so don’t be scared that most advice will be coming from oncology sites. Here’s some from my very own Nebraska Medical Center about low WBC diet:

It’ll be a fine dance to get you the drugs you need and still keep your blood counts solid but with good doctoring and your excellent patient adherence, it can be done. And, yes, steroids long term are a bugbear. In the short term, do all you’re doing: eat nutritiously, scrupulous hygiene, do everything Covid preventative, ask for a hematology referral.

I’m sorry. I was crabby. I have eaten solid food (yay!) and am feeling slightly less like a :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:.

I apologize.

It’s ok, this little old white lady still loves yah!

Thanks. Y’all are the bestest. Said it before, will say it till my dyin’ day.

On a side note :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: summer. Most Michiganders are all “yay summertime!” while I’m huddled in a corner next to Coolio with a popsicle shoved in my bra, whimpering, “When does winter come back?”

Evidently the new store connection will be good. The dude’s already sold 4 pieces, and marked up the prices. It’s remarkable what rich out of town tourist will pay for stuff. I delivered some more today. And he’s requested some specific fairly large wall hanging things.

shoe That’s not where popsicles go. Put them in your face, and maybe a bag of frozen peas on the back of the neck?

Appointment went well yesterday. Mom is still on a steroid/benadryl high, so she’s been texting me nonstop all morning and apparently hardly slept last night. She’s not mad about it, though - the meds brought down a lot of the irritation that the tumor was causing, so her nose is apparently way clearer. So…yay. I think.

Anyway, today has been weird. The week has been so odd I’ve lost track of what day it is. I need to get some waddlage in at some point today.

On an unrelated note, apparently the youths around here are all into seeing the new minions movie. And when I say “youths” (in a New York accent of course), I mean the 16 year old boys. Kids are weird.

Afternoon all. Gym has been visited and according to the various bikes ridden I made it to 1,000 calories burned. So of course I celebrated with a double cheeseburger at Burger King (but I did show some will-power and didn’t get fries). Will have my home-cooked cheeburger later tonight, forgot to get it out of the freezer for a slow thaw, so it is currently sitting (in aluminum foil) on my car hood in the garage–that’ll defrost it quickly. After dinner I’ll mow the back yard, tomorrow morning will be the time for the front.

VanGo, you’re going to become famous and have a exhibit in New York before this is through…   Enjoy.

Shoe, being an old white man myself (even though 70 doesn’t feel old…sometimes), I have been known to offer bad advice at times; but hopefully never to you. Glad you’re eating.

{{nellie}}, hope they can work something out, looks like BBBoo has some good thoughts, as for the contacts, hope you can at least see the signs.

OK, need to digest and do a little internettin’ before my TV program comes on, then plan for dinner and a mowing… All y’all take care.

Howdy Y’all! I took care of candle duty and then proceeded to accomplish the usual sloth. It has rained off and on all day. Right now 'tis not rainy, but looks to be again soon. Chikin got grilled and sallit got et. Also, the kitchen got cleanded.

shoe sorry the potential gig did not pan out. The right one is out there. I just know it. I’m an old white man, but I don’t give advice. I choose to be grumpy instead.

Nellie hope the meds etc get figured out soonest. Listen to Nurse Boo.

VanGo yay on your stuff sellin’ so well. May it continue to be even bigger and better.

wordy glad mom’s appointment went well. I’ll be glad to see the new Minions movie as well, just as soon as I can livestream it from the comfort of my recliner. Da bear don’t do theaters anymore.

Ran to Aldi after my daughter reclaimed her spawn. It started raining as I drove home, of course, because my laundry was out on the line. Dammit. It didn’t get soaked, but it still needs a quick tumble in the dryer, which is ongoing.

The rest of the evening will be dedicated to sloth. Or chillage. Whatever.

Mooooooom, I still need to find a new dentist, since mine passed right after my last appointment.

I’m glad you didn’t get hit nellie. I hope that all of the rest of the stuff clears up soon. Hugs.

Yay for good sales VanGo!

Went back to special projects today. Other than a brief issue, it wasn’t too bad. I still prefer the salvage side of the department though. There, I’m working for people who don’t tell me how much I suck (the supe in the returns end, not the special projects lead, who rocks).

I took Nelson to the dog park, where to see Remy and Milo (mini Aussies), Layla May and even Bentley (our favorite corgi). It was below 95F and not so humid, so they had a good romp. We came home, et supper and dessert was an ice cream sandwich (me) and some bacon / cheese doggy ice cream (Nelson).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

In case it wasn’t clear, my indignation was entirely mock. We loves ya, shoe!

And even though I’m one of them (well, old-ish), it is true that old white men really do suck, most of the time.

So the irreg belt broke, and 2 quarts of Rustolium black paint spilled all over the 100 slide(and the packages on it :grimacing:). I got out a 2, and Hazardous Ken was still cleaning up things when I left. I had Bojangles for lunch.

Well, if you’re dumb enough to listen to me, you deserve what you get. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{{Nellie}}}}

Evening all. Back yard has been mowed and the side easement also got trimmed to fill the second bag of clippings, so will get the front yard done tomorrow morning. Cheeburger was not consumed as I forgot to get buns (swore I had some in the freezer), so Fettuchini kept me fed tonight. Also managed a nap in there somewhere.

red, shame Nelson lives so many miles from Echo and Ripple, I bet they’d get along OK at the dog park (but would have to be on the small dog side…)

I haven’t been to see a movie since I saw “Captain Marvel” and “Avengers: Endgame” in the same week (IIRC). May go out and see the newest Thor movie, but Minions is an interesting alternative.

OK, on to readin’ and internettin’ until weariness takes me away.

Howdy all. I am still alive. Just watched a rocket launch from my front yard. It was very plain and visible tonight. Pretty neat. I could even see the boosters fall away.

My SIL called on the weekend and told me their TV died so of course I ordered a new RV to be delivered to them from Wally World. Was supposed to be there by Wed. Got a tracking that it was going to be there in Moanday with Fed Ex. Moanday came and no TV. Tuesday no TV. Tracking now says delayed. Wed no TV. Still pending and delayed. After numerous calls to Walmart and Fed Ex I ordered another TV for pickup by SIL. I have to wait until tomorrow at 8 pm to get a refund lest it shows up. It’s not gonna show up. It’s at a Fed Ex employee’s house I’m sure. So aggravating. Try to do a good deed and get caught up in all that bs. They have a TV now so mission accomplished I guess.

Today was 95F with a heat index of 112F. Miserable. I can’t wait for what passes for fall.

Stay healthy everyone.
