New things in the MMP

Jeez, MetalMouse, what a pain. Hope this fixes things once and for all, but I’m still skeptical there’s that much water flowing out.

Done with my doc appointment. While I don’t really have an answer, all the really scary stuff has pretty much been ruled out. No signs of a heat attack, blood clots, or congestive heart failure. My EKG looked perfectly normal.
Tachycardia can also be caused by thyroid problems or electrolyte imbalance, but I show no symptoms of either of those things either.

So I’m waiting on a blood draw now, and they’ll check for various other stuff, I need to schedule an echocardiogram, and they want me to wear a heart monitor for a week.

She also said “sometimes your circuitry just decides ‘I’m going to go 140 instead of 60 for a while’ for no apparent reason.” Okay then.

So I guess I’m not dying just yet, anyway.

So it went smoothly on Captain Queeg’s last day. But since the Orange thing isn’t comming, God sent a plague of locustsgnats to the building as a replacement. I stopped at Aldi, and got groceries, and a frozen pizza for lunch.

But did you order 1 12 pack by Next Day Air like some lady did once?

Holy crapFlyboy, that is awful for RN wife.

{{{{wordy and WordMom}}}} But welcome back.

Thingss my RN taught me:

  1. Don’t pick at it.
  2. take chest pains seriously.
  3. Your face is gonna freeze like that.

Let’s hope Doctor House is wrong this time.

Metalmouse, have you considered just burning the thing down, and buying a yurt with the insurance money?

Wheels I have had small bouts of SVT for 40 years but December 2021 I went to the ER twice for it. One bout lasted 5 hours. They were minutes from stopping my heart when it converted. I’m now on beta blockers. Like you, nothing wrong except sometimes the circuits get out of sync. Keep track of it and see the cardiologist if it increases.

bumba, I hope that your wife is feeling better soonest.

flyboy, a boss in my last company took a spell where she called my cycle counter and me in for an hour a day to discuss time management iissues. Hugs to Mrs.L.A.

I hope that your tire gets repaired / replaced soonest yank.

metal mouse, the more fat in the milk, the longer it lasts in the fridge. I’ve noticed that Lactaid milk tends to last quite a while too.

{{{wordy and mom}}}

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

But…that means…no CHEESE! And no pizza. Or Tex-mex. Or lasagna. I’m so sorry for you. (My late-in-life allergy (penicillin) first reared it’s ugly head when I was 63.)

What a good kitty! I don’t think I could keep a hat on GG long enough to take a pic, he would want to see what it is and play with it.

Happily for GG, his breeder used fountains so his mama showed him how to play in them.

Of course it is, what other sort of tire would you possibly need? I’m glad you were able to find a safe harbor with new friends and beer.

I am so sorry you all are going through this. I hope the new stuff works with few side effects.

Geeze, you sound just like hubs. I read forward to see that you checked out OK, but it could have been bad and waiting could have made things worse. Yes I do have lots of nagging practice, why do you ask?

Fingers crossed. Your gym membership is sure paying for itself, isn’t it?

Yesterday I noticed that our oak was looking a little peckish and when I checked the dirt it was bone dry which says those drippers weren’t working. I have no idea how long the poor thing hasn’t been getting water :frowning: I ran the hose under it for an hour and I’ll probably do it a couple of times a day until the poor thing starts looking better. I sure hope I noticed before we did major damage to the tree, oaks aren’t native to the desert and tend to need a lot of water.

Hubs got a notice that our bed will should have been here by now, so I cancelled lunch with my BFF. I don’t trust hubs, he refuses to consider the fact that he’s just too old to do stuff by himself anymore and ends up doing too much and hurting himself.

Glaring at the clock, I could have had lunch with her after all, darn UPS. When I picked up the produce, they gave me a 10 lb box of frozen breakfast sausages to split between us. BFF is a very picky eater so I didn’t want to mess around splitting the box unless she wanted them and texted her to ask. She was in a meeting and didn’t answer until after I had already left to bring the food in so she will have to wait until next time for her share.

While I was in town, I drove past the place where the rally is going to be and saw a flag vendor in the parking lot. They were gone when I went back by, so I suspect the center management ran them off.

Besides delivering the food, I also needed to return the bird bath to Lowes which is on the other side of town. There is also a Culver’s there so I drove through and got a Wisconsin burger (with three different sorts of cheese) and some cheese curds then found some shade in the Home Depot parking lot and ate my lunch there. Then I got awkwardly shaped box out and limped my way into the store (I couldn’t carry the box and use may cane at the same time). I got in line at the return counter which was the same orange as the apron the nice young clerk was wearing and waited my turn to hand her the box with the paperwork that clearly said Lowes.

She was very nice about it. I did my limp of shame out of the store and drove 4 miles down the road to the right place, got a cart to lean on and pushed the box into their return counter and successfully completed my return.

Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions and then proceeded to be sloths, lay abouts, and generally useless (our defaults) the rest of the day. It rained off and on so no quality cee-mint pond time. Sup was Moandays leftovers so that was easy.

WetOne shame on you! What if you got a severe case of the runs! What if tp hoardin’ suddenly comes back in fashion whilst you are low on supplies! One must plan for these things.

MetalMouse may this leak and the fix therein be the last of your plumbin’ woes.

Everyone else, I read all, but retention is next to nil, so yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Home in blessed quietude! Them kids wear me out.

That’s all I’ve got. I’s tahred.

Evening all. Pool was full and other folks were ahead of me on waiting, so took extra time in the Whirlpool and Sauna and got a nice shower out of it. Going to fix some dinner here in a little bit.

For those who asked, it was a different company this time and they only do leak detection. The guy couldn’t promise it was the only leak, but he did say it was a big one, so hopefully this will do it. I will expect some discounting from the Plumbers, we’ll see how it goes. At least they don’t have to move/remove any bathroom fixtures this time, and I’ll clean out my closet on Sunday.

JtC, how do you like Culver’s? We have one here, I eat there now and then but don’t find the burgers all that compelling (their fries are good, however).

red, thanks for the info. I have 2% milk this time instead of skim, we’ll see if it makes it to the expiration date.

Wheelie, good news on the heart. Just your body being weird I guess. Take care.

Oopsie, nice picture. And I never have liked treadmills much, but not being winded after a mile is a good thing. So now go for Two!!!

nellie, keep an eye on the White Blood cell Count, if it continues low you might need further examination.

OK, some B, some L and some T with a little Lite M sounds perfect right now. All y’all take care.

There is a reason I now have a year’s supply of paper goods, Lysol, hand sanitizer, and so on. 2020 turned me into a squirrel, and the news I’m seeing about a really nasty variant isn’t helping. I worry about further surges of panic shopping and bare shelves.

We just now got back from collecting our rental car, a Jeep Compass. DH needs the cargo space and ability to cope with rough terrain. If it had been for me, a compact sedan would have been fine, but that wouldn’t do for his needs. After it was in our possession, DH decided to take a fairly long drive, which was fine with me. We used to do that a lot, and some of our best conversations are during such drives.

Carotid ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow. Girly exam and the dreaded mammogram on Friday (first time for the latter for me).

The Weather Channel app on my phone says 88F, which is about the average of other sources. Feels hotter than that.

wheelie, glad your heart checked out instead of you. I’ll nag you some about getting medical attention for that kind of stuff pronto too.

Gentlemen should cover their eyes now.

Its not as bad as it used to be. They still have to turn your poor boobs into pancakes (one at a time) so they can get a good reading, but it goes pretty fast and all of the techs I have ever had were women. Granted, they were young women who had never had their boobs squished, but they still had boobs and know how uncomfortable the entire process is.

It will be over quickly and your doctor will get the results in a few days. I’m hoping that next week you will be able to tell us that everything is as good as possible and that you will be with us for a very long time.

I usually get the fish, but a cheese burger with more cheese than burger sounded pretty good. It was too! I’ve never had their fries, the main reason I go there is for their cheese curds. They use good cheddar, not cheapo 3 month-old mild cheddar which makes so much difference. Not that I’m a snob or anything…

I’m sure I’ve complained about our neighbor and how poorly he treats his dogs. Nothing has changed there, the poor things.

He started driving his heavy work truck over our culvert sideways so he could pull up parallel to his front fence easier. Culvert pipes are not made for that so he crushed it. I complained and he actually dug the end of the pipe out and pry-barred it open again.

Our produce box had a big bowl of cut fruit, way too much for us to eat, so I thought I’d offer it to neighbor for his 4 young children.

I texted him that if he wanted it, he could come over pretty much any time. He texted back that his wife was home and I could take it over whenever I wanted. (Even if we were friends, I would hesitate to go in his front yard, those big dogs are so attention starved that they rush people and jump on them.) I texted back that I wasn’t home and his wife could knock on our door and hubs would give it to her. IOW, if you want it, you make the effort to come and get it.

According to hubs, the wife came over a couple of hours later and said thank you and that her kids loved fresh fruit.

Our mattress still isn’t here. This is super annoying. Filling the bladders won’t take that long, but they need to have time for all the bubbles to collect on top so we can “burp” them. If we don’t, we get a big air bubble which is uncomfortable.

Day-umI. Again I almost got killed today by a careless driver. I’m so paranoid now, I turn my head in all directions like an owl before crossing a street or parking lot exit. I ALWAYS wait for the Walk signal. Today I got the walk signal, checked to ensure no cars were still in the left turn lane of the cross street , and walked. Just after I stepped past the median, a pickup came flying, missing me by only a few feet. It had run the red arrow. There were two people behind me in the crosswalk, so he had to have seen us. Wish I’d gotten the license plate number, but I was too shocked, and it was going too fast. Because of the sounds of traffic going straight, I didn’t realize it was turning left (illegally) until the last second.

I’m beginning to appreciate Hyacinth Bucket (It’s Bouquet.) and her “Mind the pedestrian, Richard” when they were a block away from someone contemplating crossing the street.

In other news, my oncologist retired. Don’t they usually send out notices? I called for an appointment for my (hopefully last) annual checkup, and surprise! He’d sold the practice. He was 74, so not TOO surprising, but a fit and energetic 74, so selfishly, I was hoping he’d work until I hit the 5-year mark in March. Oh, well. More labs tomorrow, and then I go to the new place Friday, so at least it’ll be over before I leave for Chicago.

Oh, and to cap off this lovely day, management says they’re going to be testing for radon next week. We’re supposed to close all windows Sunday evening and leave them shut through the 20th. Also, we can’t run AC. So we’re supposed to swelter for 48 hours. Couldn’t this be done in the winter?

On a happier note, I saw a young guy skateboarding so smoothly, it looked like he had a hovercraft. In his arms was a blissful little terrier.

Seanette, don’t fear the tortilla press. It really is pretty quick and not too painful. And most techs really are nice. Also, the boobs do spring back.

wheelie, so glad you saw the doc. My heart rate has always been fast. I think some of us just rev at a higher rate than others. But if this is unusual for you, then you’re smart to get checked.

I have a GP appointment in August. Hopefully, it’s just a glitch. I read that it’s lupus MEDS that can cause the issue, and I haven’t been on those for a few years. I’m stumped.

She says she had to rush to get the photo. Her cat looks seriously pissed off.

So I haven’t made any major life changes due to inflation yet (though I have undoubtedly noticed its effects). Is it high enough that if I don’t, I’m inherently wasting money at best? I probably don’t keep track of my finances as closely as I should, but I make good money (for me), enough that my savings and investments are as big as they’ve ever been, and most of my discretionary spending is on food (mostly because it’s one of the few things for me that distinguishes one day from another). But seeing the discussion and panic about makes me wonder if this is one of those cases of, if you’re not worried, you’re not paying attention.

Pics of seriously pissed off cats wearing clothes are so funny!

I once bought a for sale, cheapo human baby pumpkin costume and put it on one of our rainbow cats. I’ll have to look through our big ol’ box of photos, he looked dangerous, LOL!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

HAPPY BASTILLE DAY!
France: beheading the government pour encourager les autres since 1789

Huh… when the local guy who did colonoscopies got out of the business, he let us all know far enough in advance that we could get appointments or records as necessary. Tho, come to think of it, I didn’t get my records - wonder where they ended up?

Semi-related, I have similar worries about our car guy. He’s younger than we are so I’m hoping he sticks around till we quit driving, but who knows??? Our family practitioner is in her (maybe) late 30s/early 40s, so we should outlive her. And our dental practice keeps changing hands, so who knows what next year will bring, let alone the future.

We have a couple of annuities plus an account we created to cover the grands’ education. Yesterday I decided to look at the balances. It was not a happy day. The grands’ account has more than a decade to recover, so I’m not too worried about that one. And our annuities are very conservative and have a guaranteed return and they lock every year, so we won’t lose, tho we might not gain. Anyway, the payout-upon-death of mine is still up there, but the pull-it-all-out-now balance is considerably lower. Fortunately, we don’t need to draw on either of them yet. At least we’ve still got more than we started with.

When SIL drops off the grandson, I think we’ll be running to Food Lion because I need a few things and it’ll entertain the kid. He seems to get a kick out of riding in the grocery cart. Other than that, just the usual non-eventful day, I hope. FCD made an appointment to see our doc next week to discuss his pain. I’m hoping she’ll refer him to a pain management specialist. I’ve been urging him to see one for almost a year, but what do I know… We’ll be doing more work on the boat tomorrow and over the weekend. Somewhere in there, I need to do laundry - maybe when we get back from Food Lion?

So, yeah, another day in paradise. Happy Thursday!! Storm the Bastille! Croissants for tout le monde!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 87 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted this afternoon and evenin’. The same is predicted for tomorrow. Woo and Hoo. I shall betake myself to the church house to deal with candle duty this mornin’ as today’s main activity. Sup shall be grilled chikin sallits with cheesey garlic bread.

Wheelie glad the heard checked out OK at the doc. Take care of yourself. We kinda like havin’ you around.

doggio that would explain why I woke up with the urge to go storm a prison.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then since I am to go out amongst the great unwashed I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate attire. Such a bother!

Happy Thursday Y’all! Vive La France!

Afternoon, mumpers! We have had some extremely hot (for us) weather lately and I’m very happy that it’s a bit cooler today. Also, I am working from home so no need to go outside in it either. It’s 19c/66f with a predicted high of 20c/68f which is much cooler than the last few days. Weather app says “It’s the fucking days like today that make lingering hugs better. Let’s all fucking hug it out”.

Wheelie glad to hear you checked out ok at the doc’s!

Moooom sorry to hear about the upcoming FL trip, I suppose in a way it’s good that MIL is finally admitting there’s a problem and will hopefully be more receptive to suggestions of help.

Flyboy I’m glad you were able to cheer Wifey up a bit, it’s tough to lose so many people in such a short time.

Cookie when mum was in sheltered housing, she often came across people who really should have been in residential care too. Bless her, she spent a lot of time looking after them and making sure they made it back to the right flat.

nellie nearly getting mown down by a reckless driver is scary! Good to see you’re still here too.

metalmouse I hope the plumber/leak detection guy can get to the bottom of it all and you get some compensation for the excessive water bills. Lucky that the gym has decent shower facilities too, it’s always a bonus!

Back to irk, it is irksome. We were also supposed to be hopping over to Dublin tomorrow afternoon for a fleeting visit but BA have cancelled the flight for the third time. Just managed to rebook for early August so hopefully that will get the trip finally taken.

Morning all. Stayed up till nearly midnight doing crosswords, so of course I was wide awake by 6:15am. Going to mow the front yard today, do the back tomorrow (at least that is the plan). Only getting to 93F today.

FCM, yeah, I am drawing on my annuities and they are both below the amount I started with by a good chunk, hopefully the trend will start going the other way, but it’s still something I’m watching.

nellie, glad you didn’t die. Some drivers really are idiots .

OK, onward into the day. All y’all take care.

I transferred to the Design department a few months ago, and this is the most fun I’ve had at work in years. We have “Weekly Wins” meetings on MS Teams, and Todd, our department head, is laid back and hilarious. Our people are from NC, TN, MI and NY in the US, and from metro London. Joel, one of our team members in the UK branch, is 22 years old, the youngest of all of us. Todd always picked on him for being so young (I also may have contributed) until Joel’s manager asked him to stop. That didn’t deter Todd from finding other ways to get under Joel’s skin, however.

Joel had told us about his interest in astronomy, and how he managed to speak before the House of Commons on behalf of the science. He asked if we had seen the recent James Webb telescope photos, and Todd asked him if he could tell what sign we were born under. He kept going on with the astrology derailment while the rest of us were laughing our asses off. Joel’s been such a good sport about it and to his credit, occasionally manages the snarky British comeback.
