New things in the MMP

Went to the gym. I try to stay well away from others, since Covid numbers are on the rise here, so i’ll pick a treadmill with four or five empty ones on either side, and then someone will jump on one right next to me. Dude! There are a mile of treadmills to your right! So I turn my head away from them for awhile so it’s not so obvious I think they have cooties, and then I move down. I’d wear a mask, but honestly, I’m breathing harder than an obscene phone caller as it is.

My sister called. My daughter called. Then daughter sent me a photo of her disgruntled cat in a tiny baseball hat. Oh! That reminds me! Her cat news was that this cat finally learned–after two years–how to use the automatic cat fountain. The other cat learned within a day or two. JtC, GG has a brother from another mother in eastern Washington. (And he’s a big boy, too–22 pounds and looks Maine coon-ish, though he’s not.)

 This should be on a Despair poster.

sunny, my daughter is Lactose intolerant. The old Lactaid tablets didn’t do much, partly because you have to take them well in advance, but there’s a new quick-acting version that does help. She also enjoys ice cream made from plant-based milk. Nobody should have to live without him ice cream cream.

Any one of those would be sufficient reason to grump. I hope the doc gets to the bottom of the dizziness/lightheadedness issue.

There should be a sign saying this in every business. Brilliant.

I read that too fast and thought you said gin and beer it. I’ve been known to do that.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Day #2 of Prime Day, and Peakpeak day for the week. Joy.

Yes. I have the Achievement mug, in memory of my time at Dollar Tree.

Considering I knew how to make a martini before I could tie my shoes, me too.

Pulling into Cincinnati last evening we felt the familiar “whumpwhumpwhump” from the rear of the RV.

So in keeping with this MMP’s theme, our new thing will be a tire! Of course it’s a special type that “we don’t normally carry” so we await news from various warehouses on when it will arrive.

On the plus side, we were able to limp into the RV park and our neighbors immediately began helping us, so new friends and beers were enjoyed last night.

It’s 66F outside and only predicted for 86 here, so not a bad day if we end staying longer. Hope everyone has a good and boring day today (tired of exciting ones personally).

Me too!

Based on the text from our co-op, power came back just after midnight. I was dead to the world at that point, so I’ll take their word for it. I vaguely recall FCD coming into our room and closing the windows, so I’m guessing he stayed up till it came back. I also discovered that the so-called battery backup on our clock radio is worthless. It managed to jump about an hour ahead on battery. All clocks are reset now, tho.

Our garage door was open all night since I hadn’t closed it before the storm hit. I usually leave it open till bedtime because it gets so hot in there - the door faces west and gets lots of sun till sunset. Anyway, I wasn’t thinking about it last night till we were sitting in the dark. Incidentally, the flashlight option on my phone is really bright! I’m impressed!

And we heard these gawd-awful thunks on the roof, but I just looked - apart from a lot of leaves, the only branch up there looks to be maybe an inch in diameter and maybe 3 feet long. So no apparent roof damage. Whew!

As for our FL trek, it’s all set. We’ll leave early on July 31 and drive thru. Higgs is going with us. MIL is supposed to make all the appointments where they’ll need FCD for that week. I’ll go ready to help with some deep cleaning and errand-running. And with luck, we’ll be back home the next weekend. I have a dentist appt on Aug 8 that I don’t want to reschedule, and if history repeats itself, we’ll be ready to return after 3 or 4 days anyway.

In the interim, maybe I’ll do some advance cooking - like pulled poke and a meatloaf and the chicken-grape-pecan salad. FCD also promised we’d bring sweet corn and 'maters. The only issue with that is the corn will be picked on Saturday and we won’t eat it before Moanday - it’s really best cooked same-day. But we’ll figure it out. I don’t want to go, but I know my sweetie wants me along, so back down I95 we’ll go… blech

Other than that, we’ve got a hot, muggy day ahead and chance of rain again this evening. I may take Tobias to the basement to play just to give him more room to move around. That pretty much sums it up.

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 86 with rain off and on all day. We shall procure provisions for today’s main activity. Then the usual sloth and general overall uselessness shall prevail. Sup will be the leftovers from Moanday’s sup.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life can be so hard!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 54 degrees with an expected high of around 76. The forecast calls for morning cloudiness and then afternoon sun. It reached 86 yesterday, so it was on the toasty end again, especially upstairs where my work from home office is located.

It was a very long day. I signed on at 5:45 am and didn’t log off until 5:30 pm. I think today will be the same and, as it turns out, even though I’m off on Friday, I may be taking care of last-minute contract stuff for the move, so that means I’m working. I need to talk to my boss about comp time. She’s not going to like it, but it can’t be helped.

I’ll be on the road at this time tomorrow morning heading back over the mountain passes to Wenatchee and it will be another long day between taking care of stuff at the old location, the punch list inspection at the new place, and the long drive back home.

There were all kinds of unpleasant surprises yesterday related to the move and the new furniture package, but I have it under control due to some foresight with regard to my budget planning.

Sorry about the tire problems, pullin.

I’m sorry about the in-laws, FCM. I think it’s good that MiL has recognized there are issues. Let’s hope she doesn’t change her mind upon your and FCD’s arrival.

I feel ya on the time management class, johnny.

Yesterday, I wrote up an award for someone I feel deserves some special recognition and today I need to write up a second award. I was going to write up both yesterday, but the move stuff sucked up most of my day pre and post-lunch. Between that were meetings and other work. Plus, I took 15 minutes for myself to give my flowers a nice soak and give the birds fresh water.

Well, I suppose I should clean up the kitchen. I hate a messy kitchen and the husband left it a mess.

I hear ya. I had to pretty much give up drinking milk many years ago. All I could get overseas was UHT milk, which I hated, so I quit drinking milk. After years of not drinking it regularly, I developed an intolerance for it. Still, ice cream sings its siren song, so I do indulge. Doesn’t help that there is a killer ice cream place two blocks from us.

Morning all. Rain started last night just about the time I went to bed and was quite…vigorous…for awhile, there is still some very light rain out there now, but not enough to stop me from getting my paper in. The Leak Detection folks are supposed to be here today, so will be pretty much stuck in the house until they show. At least the storming dropped the temperature some, it’s only 70F outside (but heading back to 85F).

Taters, I am sure you have things under control, you strike me as an unusually competent worker–something I occasionally was and a lot of other folks aren’t. Safe trip tomorrow.

FCM, safe travels and hope it does some good, didn’t lose power here but there were a couple thumps so probably should go out and take a look-see.

Yanker, hope the tire is nearby, but making new friends is also a nice thing.

{{Seanette}}; sounds like the old demon Murphy got your address; hopefully he will go on to torment someone else.

Sunny, Cookie, I’m not Lactose intolerant, but I had given up drinking milk until last year, when I started having “Instant Breakfast” glasses several times a week, so there is some skim milk in my diet–problem is, it seems to go bad right about (or a day or two before) the expiration date on the bottle. So have to use it fast or get an extra-long exipiration.

OK, back to internettin’ while waiting for the water guys to come and solve (hopefully for good this time) my water problem. All y’all take care.

I guess the little guy was tired. The new routine is I lay him in the bed and give him some formula, then he falls asleep for a nice nap. Well, today, he only drank about 3oz of formula before turning away, sticking his passy in his face, and closing his eyes.

So I’ve got some quiet time! FCD drove up to Deale to get something he needs to finish the boat’s network. He plans to do a little electrical work today - hope he doesn’t overdo it. Anyway, time to chill a bit.

I’m working from home. Wifey, RN opened her computer as she drank her first cup of coffee. ‘Oh, my God,’ she said. I asked her what happened. Another patient died. She was only in her 60s, and my wife had only seen her twice. She was a DSHS patient, and her case manager sent an email that the patient had died on the 8th. That’s four patients in two weeks. :frowning:

flyboy I feel bad for your wife. Too many deaths.

I ordered tp from da jungle! Sadly it won’t be here til Tuesday so I need to buy a roll or two for the interim. I have only 3 rolls left! swampy faints.

She said she’s OK; just numb. ‘I’m supposed to be working in foot care, not hospice! Good God!’

As I said, it’s a hazard of working with older people. She’s had several patients who died between visits. (Visits are every four to six weeks, depending on need; and several patients had/have moved into hospice.) To have this many in such a short time is very unusual.

I’m baaaaack, much to The Dope’s chagrin.

I’ve read all but retained just about nothing, except for the first few posts, so good luck on the new job acquisition, shoe!

Unfortunately, the only new I’ve got is a new chemo drug for mom. The one she was on stopped working, as they tend to do, especially when your cancer is really aggressive, and her tumor began growing again. So they’re trying a new one today. It’ll be a five-hour infusion, so I’m about to leave, pick her up, get her settled, come back and work, pick her up, pick up overlygirl from camp, get her settled at home and cross all my fingers and toes that it works. Apparently this particular drug comes with a histamine-like reaction, so they give patients a mega-dose of Benadryl for the first cycle, so definitely don’t want her driving after that. Cancer sucks. I hate this, but probably not more than she does.

Well, this morning’s going a little more smoothly so far. It is a bit of a pain to rent a car when you do not have a credit card, but Enterprise will be civilized about it. Just have to bring some proof of current address within 50 miles of the rental location and have current addresses on our DLs, which is not an issue. Some places want to run a credit check for debit card users! Anyway, got a rental for a week, although the dealership says we might get our car back by the end of this week. Tow truck guy diagnosed a problem with the shift cable, dealership thinks that isn’t going to be horribly expensive. DH asked for estimates on a couple of other things, and we may well just let the dealership do the oil change while it’s there anyway.

Now I just need to hear back from Kaiser radiology about that appointment.

Currently on my way to UCFS medical center to get my ticker checked out.
I’ve been having bouts of elevated heart rates, and it got particularly bad last weekend, so I made an appointment to try and figure out what’s going on.
The nurse on the phone scolded me for not calling 911, but I’ve been fine since Sunday, so it’s not an emergency now.

Wheelie, may not be an emergency, but heart issues are not to be treated lightly. Hope there is nothing serious about it.

Seanette, Enterprise is my go-to rental (prices being comparable), they seem to have the best customer service, IMHO.

talkie, {{hugs}} for Mom-unit. Hope the new stuff works.

flyboy, heck of a bad run; hopefully that’s all for the near future.

Well, in the plumbing saga, had a guy out who specializes in leak detection, he found another one in the other part of my house (my walk-in closet) that will mean pulling up carpet and drilling through the slab. Plumbers are due out Moanday, hopefully this will fix it.

Then got the info from my Doctor that the tour company wanted, so I need to mail that sometime today or tomorrow, and picked up a prescription I didn’t know I needed (still have 10 days supply). Bottle says 90 pills, but it looks like a lot more than that, so we’ll see.

Just finished lunch, so will soon get ready and go to the pool were I can forget about things for a couple hours. All y’all take care.

My blood test results arrived via the lab portal. On the good news side, my cholesterol levels are fine, as is most everything else. But some of my blood work is slightly concerning. My white cell count is pretty low, my red blood cell count is a little high. I’m pretty sure the latter is due to my being somewhat dehydrated. I didn’t drink enough water the day before, and the day of, I didn’t want to have to stop en route to the lab to pee, so I’m sure that’s it. I had to google the WBC info, which of course meant reading about the really bad stuff it could be, but lupus can cause that, so I’m sticking with that theory , even though the WBC has never been low before.

MetalMouse, so the leak guy is saying this leak is a gusher? Is he sure now there are no other leaks? It’s just such a huge amount of water. And why didn’t they find this leak before? If it’s that big, shouldn’t it have been obvious? You can tell I know nothing about plumbing.

JtC, I thought of GG last night. My daughter told me that after two years, their male cat finally learned to use the kitty water fountain. (The female cat learned in a couple days.) He looks like a Maine coon cat, too, a VERY big (20-ish pounds and not fat), very fluffy boy, but his mama was an Idaho barn cat and his papa was a rolling stone, so unlikely. Still,he reminds me of lovable GG–beautiful but not bright.

Wordy! Welcome back! It’s good to have you here again. I’m sorry the news on your mom hasn’t been so great. When will you know if the new chemo is working on your mom? Five hours of infusion seems like a very long time. I suspect with all that Benadryl, she’ll snooze much of that time. I hope you’re taking good care of yourself.

flyboy, yikes, that’s a lot for your wife to deal with. I can see why she’d feel numb right now. I really, really hope that’s it for patient deaths for awhile.

:crossed_fingers: for good heart news, Wheelz!

I had a front-row seat (so to speak) for last night’s storm: I was on my home treadmill, which faces the window, with the blinds open and the room light off so I could see the show while I walked. I’d been watching it get darker and windier from my home office, and while walking I saw the black clouds move SE overhead (that part of the house faces NW). There was still rain, thunder, and lightning after I finished my mile, at around 6pm, but the sun stayed out – which resulted in some amazing sunsets! There are lots of pictures online of rainbows and lightning (sometimes in the same photo), and I took one from my front steps of the bright orange sunset in my neighborhood:

My phone’s camera didn’t really do it justice, but you get the idea.

…which reminds me, I guess I do have something “new” to mention: I finally started using my treadmill again! I walked one mile yesterday, and the day before. The difference from 8 months ago (before surgery) to now is marked: I’m walking at 2.5 mph, which is I think my fastest pace ever, and I’m not winded after a full mile! (Which tells me that I should really be doing two miles each time…I’ll get there. ) My goal is to walk at least one mile every day. In the past I’ve set treadmill schedules of certain days of the week/so many times a week, but it finally dawned on me that there is no reason to not do it every day – and it’s easier to remember!

When there’s no storm for entertainment, I like to watch “walking tour” videos on my iPad while I’m on the treadmill. I have a YouTube playlist and several related subscriptions, and it’s been fun over the past couple of days to both revisit some favorites (like where I was born and the British town my family used to live in) and line up new ones to try (like the Dole Plantation Pineapple Express Train – even though that isn’t technically a walking tour – and a Beverly Hills classic supercars show).

You misspelled “delight.”

:astonished: I’m glad the leak was found…I guess the repair will be at your expense?
