New things in the MMP

Afternoon (just barely) all. Most of my out of house adventures dealt with my February Antarctica trip, the Travel people want a health form filled out and signed by my Doctor, so I went there and they promised to call once the Doc has gone over it and signed it. Then stopped at Geico and inquired about trip insurance, they recommend it highly (given the cost if I have to be evacuated from the end of the world) and the price they quoted was $200 more than the high cost that the Tour folks were offering, so I came back home and added more debt to my credit card for the month (not in any problems, just need to revise the budget). Turned on the house water for about 15 minutes for bathroom and shaving needs, that spent 30 gallons, so I’m really ready for the leak detectors to start detecting tomorrow.

Will change and head to the gym here shortly, I’m using their locker room for showering and general cleanliness during the water leak.

FCM, probably a good call, if need be you can be mediator between son and parents; hope it all works out.

Sari, how do the small dog people feel about all the medium/big dogs ‘invading’ their turf? Or do they understand the drama brewing? And {{{ }}} to you and your mom during this time.

OK, gym shorts on and ready to go. All y’all take care.

Doubt I would need to mediate, but I can help with stuff like taking his mom shopping or doing some cooking and cleaning. Plus he can bitch to me when they drive him crazy.

So we’ll head south on July 31 for a week.

As usual, I had multiple carts of stuff to deal with(some from the last shift). I got out at 12:30. At least it’s OT. I stopped at Bojangles for lunch. I’m having thumb cramps :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Holding a 12 Oz can seems to help. I wonder if I can convince HR that I need a service can of beer to carry around.

JtC, Orange guy just canceled his rally here on Friday, so maybe you’ll get lucky, too.

Most mornings there is nobody on the small dog side. There is a group of regulars over there, but they come later in the day.

Somebody came today and seemed a little hesitant to come in, but Lucy dad sits up by the gate and assured her that Lucy and Echo are cool and there was no problem. Even when Coco went over, it was good. Our dogs are pretty good at respecting other dogs’ boundaries, if another dog wants to be left alone, they leave them alone.
If they ask, Lucy dad tells them exactly why he is there. There have been small dog people who have left because of Barky’s barking. It’s loud enough to get on their nerves too, so they totally understand.

Every now and then you get somebody who throws a fit and threatens to call the police, so then you just have to leave.
There was an old husky, Sam, who used to come to the park. He was pretty frail and sometimes would go on the small side if the big side was too active. One day some lady threw a fit about it, I think she lost a lot of potential friends that day. Sam was pretty harmless, and everybody loved him.

Moomm on the plus side of the negative ledger, it must be a relief that FCD’s mom is admitting that there is a problem.

Plan it without her. If you feel like there’s no time to waste, then just do it.

 It’s good for what ale’s ya.

If we’re all lucky, he’s ducking law enforcement.

Tooth is better today. I just did another grocery order. We’ve got wildfires burning inland, but the wind has shifted, so the smoke is blowing away from us.

Take care everyone. Happy Tuesday.

I’m sending thoughts and prayers about his health.

I’m so sorry things are going so badly so quickly FCM, it’s never easy.

I’m glad she has your back. It sucks when you think you are dealing with adults but realize you are dealing with a room of toddlers. I’ve moved offices a couple of times and I didn’t want the movers to pack my stuff because I didn’t trust them.

This morning I walked to the lab to get bloodwork done that my doc ordered. The doctor’s office said to go in the morning because I have to fast first, and that I didn’t need an appointment, but when I got to the lab, they only had standby slots available. OK. So I’m in the waiting area, and when a tech came out, this man growled at him about the long wait for standbys. The tech said they were booked solid, so come back tomorrow, and the guy stormed out. I explained I’d walked 1.5 miles, and wasn’t there any chance there’d be a no-show? He said he’d check. A few minutes later, I heard, “Pssst!” and he was beckoning me with a finger up to his lips. When I got in the lab, he said it was because I’d been so nice. Niceness for the win! Then he poured out all his troubles, so I guess it paid off for him, too.

flyboy, glad you were able to help Mrs. LA feel better. Oof. What a stomach punch of a two week period.

Taters, glad the SD unleashed the wrath of Og on the lazy workers. Don’t feel guilty. It was a corporate problem that needed a corporate solution, which the SD provided. They weren’t going to learn otherwise.

 I was going to suggest he rent a Bernard and replace the brandh in the little keg on its collar with beer, but this is so much funnier.

Also, sunny, glad the mouth feels better. I hate getting novocaine. I always feel like I’m drooling.

FCM, glad you’ll be able to go with FCD–won’t be a fun trip, but sounds like it’ll be productive, and it sure beats staying home and worrying about him, plus I’m sure FCD wants his honey along.

Or you could stand nearby, point vaguely at distant cacti, and yell, “Quick! Over there! It’s Antifa!” If you plant a few pentagrams and rainbow flags ahead of time, they’ll be occupied for hours.

Sari, Barky mom gets my vote for Most Clueless. I hope Lucy dad does spell it out to her. I doubt she’ll learn any other way.

Howdy Y’all! We laundered and had (for us) an adventure. My car tag is due (well, now it’s was due) before my bday on the 29th. This mornin’ I glanced at it and thought I should just go and get this done while it’s on my mind, so I told OYKW I needed to go to Da 'burg. Of course this meant also that tacos could ge gotten at the little Mexican place there that makes good tacos. We rarely go there cause we rarely have need to go up that way. Thus, we decided to be bears who N.O.L. So we go to the tax and tag office in Da ‘burg and lo and behold I am waited upon from someone I irked with who had gone to irk there. We had old home week for a good ten minutes (no one else was in the office that needed stuff) and had a high old time catchin’ up. Then OYKW and I went and had many tacos Thus, we had an adventure! Needless to say nappage followed that. Plus we got the laundry done.

Taters don’t feel bad. They knew they needed to pack up and now they will.

Cookie that is alarming. Hope she can get the help she needs.

MOOOOOOM so the Tobster is now mobile. BEWARE! Also, good for you for offerin’ to go with FCD to Flahrduh. I am sure he will appreciate not havin’ to deal with this alone.

Sari at this point, I say if your mom wants sump’n and can afford it she should go for it.

Yay!

… and it sounds like he needed a listening ear, so on behalf of all of us, thanks for being such a nice shoulder for him.

Glad it worked out for you as well.

Moooooom, Toby’s looking more like RoxStar every day. Sad that you and FCD are going to have to go to Florida to take care of things though.

JtC, you have my sympathies. Whenever we get someone who needs Secret Service protection here, it snarls already snarled traffic even more. I used to live 12 miles from Al Gore’s farm when he was Veep and you just knew that when he was in town, find an alternate route to irk. His orangeness is even worse.

Irked, came home, et and am fixing to do KP. The thunderboomers just started. I hope to get Nelson out during a lull in showers.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Home!! It’s quiet and tidy, as it should be. We had grilled cheese sammiches because neither of us wanted much more. I may have a peach later. Meanwhile, the dishwasher is sloshin’ away. Good thing, too - we were out of butter knives!! :open_mouth:

Time for chillage till the analysis of today’s Jan 6 hearing on MSNBC at 8. I like to hear the various perspectives they present. So that’s my exciting evening plans.

Wifey is sick. She’s lying on the bed, with puppy, not throwing up. I’m doing nothing. It’s 98f outside. I’m not interested in doing anything out there. It’s only supposed to be 94f tomorrow. Maybe I’ll mow the lawn then.

I got my little piece of pipe and completed my plumbing project yesterday. I used a piece of pipe about 8’ long that was made redundant when we moved the washer and dryer into the basement. Turns out it sticks up about 3’ above the deck. Wifey says it’s too tall. I say it’s a good height 'cause one doesn’t have to bend over to turn it on and off. We’ll see if I have to go buy a shorter piece of pipe. I used it today to water the plants on the deck. I like it.

I forgot to address this earlier, I’m sorry. The orange one has been here a couple of times in the past and traffic goes nuts for a couple of days in advance and afterwards. Street side vendors will pop up on every single bare patch of dirt they can find no matter how much they are inconveniencing everyone else and over half of the drivers on the streets won’t be from around here, so won’t know where they are going or how fast they should be driving to get there. It’s going to be a mess and we are in the position to avoid it, so we will.

My BFF has already started complaining about Friday’s commute and how bad it’s going to be. She’s too young to be that grumpy, I’m probably bad influencing her.

I’ll probably go by the junction at some point just so I can come home and tell hubs how much of a zoo it is, but that will be it.

Our new bladder (for bed) was supposed to be here tomorrow (Wednesday) which is also our housekeeper day AND produce and lunch with BFF day. The bladder is being shipped FedEx and they are usually in this area around 1pm, so we asked housekeeper to come on Thursday and for BFFs hub to stop over on his way home Wednesday to pick up their food.

This morning Hubs got a message that the bed was being delayed until Thursday. We don’t want to make our housekeeper change her plans again, so we will work around her. BFF hub thought he was supposed to come over today so we had a nice visit while he savored another of “his” beers.

I’ll be able to have lunch with BFF tomorrow as usual as well as return the birdbath to Lowes. I thought it was solar powered but it takes house current. At least the cord was the first thing I saw when I opened the box. I didn’t unpack anything but the instructions so I could verify that once again I wasn’t using my eyes when I ordered it.

I have walk in blood work scheduled for tomorrow as well. Coffee is just flavored water, and my doctor tells me to drink lots of water both the day before as well as the morning of a fasting blood draw. Seems to me that I should be able to have coffee as well as water.

I’m never mean to the vampires, but I do a bunch of internal complaining about everything until I can get myself around a cup of coffee or two.

I am in total agreement and feel you should encourage her to spend her money on things that make her happy. You are doing an excellent job of holding things together, btw.

Thank you. I am sending him more thoughts and prayers.

Wifey is sick, remember? Her judgement was off when she said that. She’s going to love it when she starts using it. That’s the height of my newly installed porch tap and it really does make it nice to not have to bend over all the time. I have one of those light coiled RV hoses and a hook by the tap so I have a handy place to hang it. It makes watering my porch posies so much easier.

I hope she feels better soon.

Evening all. Mac-n-Cheese has been consumed and is assimilating in my digestive track, so that will hold me until tomorrow. Mail was interesting, one thing for me, one thing for someone who has never lived at this address, and one for an address a couple blocks away (same number, different street). So dropped that off while the Mac’ was cooking, so no need to go back outside today. According to the calculators on the stationary bikes, I had an Apocalypse workout (burned 666 calories) today.

JtC, my sympathies. DJT was here in 2016 campaigning but it was a quick in-out trip so no big stuff. Kinda surprised he hasn’t been back this way again… Hope the bed and housekeeping work out comfortably.

swampy, congrats on getting the car tag done; we can do it on-line here these days, so no standing in line anymore.

nellie, getting mad gets you noticed; being nice gets you service. And listening is even better.

Sari, if I haven’t mentioned it before, I do love your Tales (or should that be Tails) of the Dog Park. If I ever get up that way I plan to visit it.

Yes, he has to testify per the courts on Firday (“A wonderful thing, subpoena”)–bonus points if you can name that movie. Might delay his trip out west–we’ll see.

OK, fed and hydrated, so a casual night of TV and Internettin’. All y’all take care.

Big storm blew thru and we’re without power. I did find our flashlight, so there’s that. Thunder has moved on but no telling what killed the power or how long till it’s back. Daughter still has lights at her place.

Oh well…

I went crazy and had ice cream and now I’m paying for it. Lactose intolerance shouldn’t be allowed to just randomly show up after the age of 50. I like ice cream damnit. On the other hand, it’s been a lot easier to lose weight since I started avoiding dairy (most of the time). I’m still grumpy.

Today and tommorow are Prime Day. When I was leaving at 12:30, they were already unloading a 53 footer of packages from Da Jungle

You deserve it.

Otherwise I’d just have to grin and beer it.

:frowning: Lactaid doesn’t help?

Today was a massive hassle. Buddy apparently believed I needed to be up for the day once DH got up, because he would NOT calm down and settle down and let me go back to sleep. Doctor appt (just a checkup) went fine, but I did have to leave some fluids with the lab and she wants a carotid ultrasound to address some of my dizziness/lightheadedness. Then DH had the car break down just short of getting home. Getting roadside assist took ages, the receptionist at the dealership was a bitch to me (but pleasant with DH), and it is just way too hot here today for that much hiking around. Grump.

:sob: No

We had a webinar on time management today. All the time I was thinking, ‘You know how I could better manage my time? By doing my effing work!’ Also, ‘Get out of my basement!’
