Well, now that thread finally became marked Read, but one or two others are staying Unread. Seems to be random.
Skald tells me that a joke I made in his thread has fallen flat. This is the first time this has happened to me and I believe it to be some sort of fault of the board. This happened in IMHO about twenty minutes ago. If Jerry needs to contact me, I can be reached through the usual channels.
So this is a joke too. Right?
True to my word, I just reupped for another two years. I’m not happy with the Board’s performance problems, but I do appreciate the effort to get to the bottom of it. Will just have to learn to live with it. Maybe my cash infusion will help address the situation.

I really should learn not to be grateful I haven’t been zapped in over week. Zapped just now. No point in trying to wade through all the threads to see what I’ve read or where I’m up to.
Again. There’s no pattern to this at all.
The past week has been much worse than normal for me. I’ve been zapped five out of the last seven days.
I don’t really care about the zapping - but the load times for threads is often just silly now.
Some subforums load really slowly for me, but I haven’t been zapped (knock wood) for a few weeks.
Slow for me too. Plus now it’s doing that odd glitch again where it’s refusing to mark some threads as Read no matter how many times I go into them. They just stay marked Unread. It usually sorts itself out after a while though.
Just got zapped then got unzapped. 
ETA: and re-zapped. Maybe I shouldn’t’ve said anything.
I haven’t tested enough to completely convince myself, but it appears that explicitly logging out (i.e. so it tells you that it is clearing cookies) and as a result logging in again next time you want to read the dope seems to help with the zapping. Still doesn’t help with the intermittent sssssllllllooooowwwww response.
Odd new behavior for me. The Last Message Read (or first New Message) isn’t matching up with the last time visited. SMBD thinks my last visit was around 2:30pm today, but is skipping messages up until right now in the message view.
The board is now saying I was last here yesterday evening when, in fact, I haven’t visited for several days.
And zapped (in the older sense) immediately. No point in hanging around this evening - searching for the threads I was reading and where I was up to is too much like hard work when everything is ‘read’. :mad:
That is not true for me. I explicitly log out every time. Seems to have no influence against zapping.

Maybe I’m slow on the uptake. Perhaps this is the SDMB’s way of telling me to go away. I haven’t been shunned like this since High School.
Because of this getting zapped caper every time I log in, this thread is the only one I can post to. I must try and remember to go to another board first tomorrow and see if the same thing happens. How is the rest of the board, people? Busy? Interesting? I have no way of knowing.
