New Wonder Woman movie coming in 2007 - Who should be cast as Wonder Woman?

My vote is for Monica Spear A graduate of Central Florida University and Miss Venezuela 2005. Was top 6 in the Miss Universe pageant that year.

She’d be a shoo-in if they were looking for new talent.

There’s such a character? What movie, and what’s she all about? I think I may have found my new user name.

Gwen (Electro-Gwen is a fan-made nickname) was a recurring character - a terrific one - on season 4 of Angel. She’s a highly successful thief with an electrically-charged body that serves both as a weapon as a curse, distancing her from human contact (as she couldn’t turn her powers off). She was tough, sarcastic, flamboyent, ultimately sweet, and she seemed as though she arrived at the series from a completely different universe, possibly Marvel.

And she had a GREAT wardrobe of skintight shiny black and red latex outfits, including plenty of long gloves to keep her from touching anyone.

I came in here to nominate (yeah, like we have any say in the matter) Jessica Biel. I think she has the body for it. And at 5’ 7 1/2", she’s tall enough.

But I would also support Alexa Davalos. Good call.

Are foreign accents a deal-killer?

Because I nominate up-and-coming Romanian actress Monica Dean (a.k.a. Monica Barladeanu).

She had a small part on Lost and I have been smitten with her ever since.

Another pic.

Another.

Gotta stop, it’s Friday afternoon, I could keep looking at her forever . . .

I’ve always felt that Lynda Carter was the perfect Wonder Woman. With that in mind,

Amanda Peet can do:

Diana Prince

and can also do sexy as:

Wonder Woman

Dark hair (like Lynda Carter), clear blue eyes (like Lynda Carter), 5’6" (only 2" shorter than Lynda Carter), actually has boobs (like Lynda Carter), and best of all, she can actually act. Oh, and she’s 34 but I always think she’s much younger than that.

If Sandra Bullock plays this roll, I will cry.

I had a horrible mental image of Brittany being cast for the role, and the brainless patter of a Hollywood agent saying how comics were for kids, & the kids all loved her.
And then, I had a mental image of Madonna…

  1. By your own admission, you date men. Your judgement of “astoundingly hot” in women is thus suspect.
  2. Morena Baccarin does look a lot like the comic book character.
  3. However, I would go for an actress who is *at least *5’8" (really, I would shoot for somewhere from 5’9" to 6’1") to convey the sheer longness of the modern version of WW.
  4. In any case, “astoundingly hot” don’t mean a thing if she can’t throw the lariat.

In conclusion… Maybe. If she is willing to get in the kind of muscular shape to play Diana, she might be OK.

 Tobey McShrimp looks nothing like Peter Parker. Hugh Jackman is too tall & too thin to be Wolverine; comic book Rogue doesn’t look much like movie Rogue, either. Sin City & Hellboy were makeup fests & beside the point. Chris Reeve did not look like a Curt Swan Superman–no matter how he may have influenced later artists.

I gotta give you Billy Campbell as the Rocketeer.

Based on height, build, & facial features, Gina Torres is easily as close to Diana’s appearance as most actors cast as comic book characters. The difference is socially constructed labeling. Diana, even with her curly black hair, is “white,” while Gina is “black.”

Anyway, I wouldn’t insist that Gina play the role. I’d like the actress playing Diana to look like she came off the Scythian steppes 3000 years ago. But Gina is the kind of actress I would look for. I guess you could say I want a “white Gina Torres.”

Amanda Peet is far too horsefaced to play Wonder Woman. Giddyup!

Hrmmm… Plus she has experience playing a princess of a fictional tropical European country.

And I’m very much in lust with her, so that’d be a bonus.

Wonder if she could kick ass believably though.

Is Jennifer Garner not in the mix?

mm

Rachel Bilson, since she has some experience with the part.

This is like casting Captain America: the physical part is nigh-impossible to match with anyone. That being said…I might have said Ellie Chidzey, though her only movie role to date was not promising, she was physical enough. Or heck: Jordana Brewster?

For some reason, the image of Julie Delpy as Aphrodite popped into my head this week. So…

Digression: If the Greek goddesses appear, who should play them?

Mia Hamm.

I have no idea why her image popped into my head as Wonder Woman, but I think it fits.

Yeah, good call. I really think it should be someone with a sports or stunt work background.
