Family’s taking me out (in public ;)) to eat, but I will be here at 11:30 ET to see in 2011 with y’all if you want. We can do and say goofy shit (only not in German) and have a high ol’ time!
See ya

I should be online. Just watching movies with the wife. No big plans, as I prefer it.
In less than an hour (1900 sharp) is the Birch Bay Ring of Fire & Hope. Residents will line the shores of the bay and ignite road flares. We’ll go down and light a couple of flares and watch. I’m making glögi now (the wine is mulling, and the vodka is at the ready), and I’ll put it in a thermos so we can take it with us. It’s below freezing outside, so I’ll bring the insulated REI mugs. There’s a fire burning in the wood stove fireplace insert.
I should be around too. I had a pretty busy day, but unfortunately, have nothing to do and nowhere to go the rest of the night. Just gonna play a game or two and watch tv probably.
Going out to dinner with a guy friend that I haven’t seen in 13 years.
There was never any sexual tension or chemistry between us, so I expect to just catch up and reminisce, and come home and watch a movie (and, knowing my neighborhood, dodge the bullets).
Happy new year to youse guys dere.
Normally I don’t either. I usually sit around and do nothing, and go to bed after midnight. But I have a roommate this year, so we’ll get out and watch the festivities. Neighbours are already lighting off fireworks. We’ll be out of here in under ten minutes, but we’ll be back well before midnight. No idea what we’ll to the rest of the evening.
I gave roomie a sample of glögi. She said, ‘Woo…’ I may have, you know, accidentally put in more of the ol’ Finlandia than actually called for.
Well, that was nice. There wasn’t an unbroken line of flares from Birch Point to Point Whitehorn, but both of those places and the middle had a pretty fair representation. The glögi went down a treat. Should’ve made more. Although I’m getting a bit of a buzz. Roomie said it hit her straight away.
A couple more logs on the fire, The Twilight Zone marathon playing (The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street), and Thai pasta salad for dinner in a bit.
Happy New Year!
Got drunk as a skunk tonight with a a group of punk rockers and a bunch of lesbians with emotional issues. Quite an enjoyable evening even though they smoked up all of my cigarettes.
Happy new year to all of you!
Aw, man, thanks for the reminder! I totally forgot that started tonight.
Actually, it seems to have just ended.
FTR, I’m a bit buzzed.
Oh, I just meant the marathon, not that episode.
After that episode, they went to WWE (according to the guide). We’re watching Men In Black now.
Hey, y’all! I’m 1.5 sheets in the wind!
Tonight, at dinner, I was asked to make a small speech, so I borrowed the one from Dr. Sidney Freedman from MAS*H (Alan Arbus): “Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice (pause for effect). Pull down your pants and slide on the ice.”
The great Alan Arbus is 92! Can you believe it???
BTW, the family loved it - the younger ones, anyway.
Q
Glad y’all could make the thread!
Johnny, “glögi” is the equivalent of mulled wine, right, and thanks for 'Quasi at the Quackadero" (I KNOW I wrote “Trocadero”, but I was already .5 sheets in the wind at that time - please excuse the gaffe!)
Q
Alice, (and I know you’re not here), do you remember the goon walking around saying, “I love Popeye, I love Popeye”?
Man, as kids we didn’t know WHAT to make of that!
Now of course I think they may have been smoking “wacky tabacci”!
Q
Happy New Year to you and yours, Quasi!
Okay, well, I’m fixin’ to have to go downstairs and watch the damn Atlanta Peach Drop (there’s allso a “Possum Drop” in a neighboring town), so I’ll leave it with y’all and maybe check in again later.
Thanks
Q
Yep. Mulled wine – with a good dose of vodka. (OK, the vodka is optional. But who wants just plain mulled wine )
I can tell by the coding you chose the “option”, John!
LOL!
