NFL 2022: Conference Championship Week

Wow. Terrible turnover, followed by yet another big defensive penalty. Now it’s a two-TD deficit with the #4 quarterback for the Niners.

His return is questionable.

Damn, this sucks! Feel bad for Purdy. Heck, I wanted my team to beat him! Still, who is this Johnson guy? He might pull off some surprises too.

And I’m really peeved at Eagles D. What the hell? Can’t tackle a RB? I realize that CMC is one of the best, but come on, guys.

All they need the quarterback to do is dump it off to Deebo or McCaffrey in the backfield. Maybe Kittle on a crossing route. Their defense looks solid if they can get a handle on the penalties. I think they can come back even with Johnson if they have to.

Like that final play that ended the half. Dump it off to Deebo, he runs for 12 YAC.

Unfortunately it does kind of feel like the Eagles are the team of destiny here.

“This sucks.” Only thing I can think.

I’m visiting Eagles fans to watch this game, too.

The definition of a journeyman NFL quarterback. He’s been in the league since 2008 (drafted in the fifth round by the Bucs), and has nine career NFL starts. He’s been under contract with 14 different NFL teams over the course of his career, though he has only actually played in a regular-season game for seven of them. He also played in the UFL (2012) and the XFL (2020).

He was signed by the 49ers in December, when Jimmy Garoppolo got hurt; it’s his fourth stint with the Niners.

Perfect. I almost have more confidence in that resume than a healthy Purdy. Go 49ers, you can do it!

I hope Purdy is okay, but I have to admit I would find it kind of funny if the 49ers won this game and then Johnson had to start the Superbowl, meaning they’d have to frantically practice like the start of the season when historically you’d probably just be doing walkthroughs without even dressing.

Second half is starting, will check out the rest in an hour.

Johnson is now out, having had his head hit the ground hard after he was knocked down by Suh. Purdy’s back in for the moment, though the announcers pointed out that (a) it’s not clear if he can really pass right now, and (b) McCaffrey is their emergency QB.

Thanks! Wow. Quite the résumé. Still, my team does not look so great.

And Purdy’s gotta come back in now. Gah! Hope the elbow’s okay.

That didn’t look like a terrible hit by Suh, in that he didn’t really drive him into the ground or land with his full weight on the QB. Still, I wonder if a flag would have been thrown had it been Brady or Rodgers.

Agreed; it wasn’t anything like an illegal hit – it was just a matter of Johnson falling backwards after the hit in such a way that the back of his helmet struck the turf.

Is it just me is this color commentator the most irritating thing I’ve heard since I dropped a fork in my garbage disposal? Nasally, hyperactive, won’t shut up – take a friggin’ breath, get a glass of water. You don’t have to fill every silence with inane observations. I might have to try to find an alternate audio.

I thought I might be the only one who wondered this. This is a conference championship game, fer crissakes…surely Fox has somebody better?

For some reason he’s their #1 guy.

Fox lost Joe Buck and Troy Aikman to ESPN this year, so this is the best they had left.

What a tremendous disappointment this game has been.

Yup; Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olson (the former Panthers tight end) are now their #1 announcing team. Looking at their list of announcers for this season, none of them (with the possible exception of Kenny Albert) stand out to me.

Ugly finish to the game.

How often do fights like that happen?

I’ll definitely be rooting for the AFC team in the super bowl.

I was watching a football game and a hockey game broke out.

Already closing streets in philly.
