Broncos would be 8-2 if their offense put up a measley 18 points a game.
Jimmy G vs Colt McCoy at altitude in Mexico City in the rain. This is going to be a total shitshow.
Bears QB Justin Fields injured his left (non-throwing) shoulder late in yesterday’s game against the Falcons. The Bears are currently listing him as “day-to-day,” pending the team’s formal injury report on Wednesday, but there are unconfirmed reports that he has a separated shoulder – if so, he could miss weeks.
I’m sort of on board with the Bears tanking for draft position. So I’m hoping they shut Fields down until after the bye (assuming surgery isn’t prescribed).
As an aside, I’m somewhat irritated with social media over this whole situation. For the last 4 weeks we’ve had meatheads coming out of woodwork talking about how stupid the Bears were for not designing an offense around Fields abilities in the previous 6 weeks. Now that he’s banged up the same loudmouths are screaming about how stupid the coaching staff is for letting their franchise QB take so many hits by running the ball. I know this is par for the course these days, but it’s just exhausting to watch.
I’m hoping this is the lesson that both Fields and the coaches need to find a reasonable middle ground where Fields can improvise, and they can run him in key situations, but they figure out how to get him to get the ball out fast and keep the defense off balance.
I thought it was entertaining. Garoppolo was as good as I’ve ever seen him.
He can perform if they keep pressure off of him.
The league announced the semi-finalists for next year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame class today. There are five former players who made it to the semi-finals in their first year of eligibility: defensive back Darrelle Revis, offensive lineman Joe Thomas and Jahri Evans, defensive lineman Dwight Freeney, and linebacker James Harrison. Wide receiver Henry Ellard, and linebacker London Fletcher, both in their final year of eligibility, are both semi-finalists for the first time.
Feh, I posted this in last week’s thread. ![]()
I hope Fletcher gets in. He was a great player. A tackling machine. He’s 2nd all-time in tackles, both solo and combined, and he’s only 20 tackles behind the leader, Ray Lewis (who played one more season than London did). He was in the top 5/10 in tackles almost every season he played; save for his first 2 seasons he never had less than 111 tackles a year. He played 250 consecutive games. I don’t understand why he’s not in already.
I’d have to say that Revis and Harrison are locks. Probably Freeney, too. I’m not familiar enough with the stats of the others to make an informed guess.
Joe Thomas is a lock. It’s not his fault his team wasn’t a winner. He was the best in the league at his position for 10,000 straight snaps.
Yeah, he’s the biggest no-brainer pick from the group IMO.
Hester needs to get in. But this year’s class is a murder’s row of talent, will be a definite long shot.
I’d say Albert Lewis, Andre Johnson, Jared Allen, Darren Woodson, Ronde Barber, Tory Holt and Zach Thomas miss the cut.
Gah. Wrong thread.
Hell, Hester is only 40, I’d still put him in a game.
