NFL 2022 Week Seven Wonders of the World

Four minutes left in the game, and the Packers trail the Commanders 23-14, and have only 138 yards of total offense. :stuck_out_tongue:

Holy crap that Giants game nearly gave me a heart attack multiple times during the final 2 minutes. Which took about a half an hour of real time, by the way.

6-1!

In the final play, it was Rodgers that ended it by throwing it away. I think it was a forward pass anyway. oh the irony.

I’m so glad I took advantage of a 70+F day and went for a hike rather than watch the Packers lose yet again…

Brian

Well now. That was really something.

Watching this Seahawks-Chargers game… I’m thinking that Seattle might win the NFC West. They will be on top if they’re able to hang onto this lead. (Up 21 with 6 minutes to go in the game as I type this.)

In the preseason I saw a few predictions that SEA would end up with the #1 pick in the draft. I think the only way they get that is from the DEN pick.

I was predicting that too. The Geno Smith we have now was not seen in those games.

And I’m enjoying the Denver meltdown. Both because it makes the front office in Seattle look like geniuses, and also because of what you said. Seattle could have one of the best picks in the draft, and there are some great QBs. As good as Geno is, if they can find the next Pat Mahomes for the future, they’ll be in great shape.

I don’t think the Broncos will end up with the worst record. My guess is that the Lions or Texans get that honor. There’s a lot of teams with only 2 wins right now. The Seahawks will probably get a top 10 pick from that trade.

I think it depends on whether these rumors are true and what Denver is willing to do.

If they think this season is lost and they have a chance to get back a lot of the capital they spent on the Wilson trade, they might have a fire sale. That would give them a chance to draft some promising young rookies, and rookies are cheap. They are cash-strapped with how much their QB costs them.

But it would mean having a skeleton crew the rest of this season, and they might continue to lose. They could fire their HC as the scapegoat and start over.

But they’re just rumors. Maybe after Russ gets healthy they’ll figure something out and get better. Right now though, Denver only has one more win than Houston and Detroit. It could be a race to the bottom.

On a Giants site I frequently see Jeudy’s name has been mentioned as a player the Giants could go after. Of course this is all speculation.

Can someone explain how my Giants are 6-1?

Did I just imagine that was some of the worst officiating seen this year?

I think I read that before yesterday’s game, the Niners, statistically, had the best defense in the league. (Perhaps somebody can verify or disprove this statement.) Anyway, the Chiefs shredded that defense yesterday. After an early interception, KC scored touchdowns on five of their next six drives, and had another called back due to a dubious chop-block penalty. Chiefs had just one punt, which was late in the game with the outcome clearly decided.

Yeah, I don’t think the “who’s better, Mahomes or Allen” argument is going to be settled any time soon.

Although if Mahomes can beat Allen in Buffalo in the presumptive AFC championship game, it would help quiet the Bill’s mafia.

They do (or did).

The top 5 according to that list are:

  1. 49ers
  2. Bills
  3. Cowboys
  4. Jaguars
  5. Buccaneers

That might be from a few weeks ago though, it’s a bit hard to tell. It implies Week 4 rankings.

SF was also predicted to have the best (and Buffalo second) before the season even started.

Any word yet on the offensive line injuries from yesterday? Because the literal answer to your question is the offensive line.

ETA: Evan Neal (right tackle) has an MCL sprain, and might be back after the bye in week 10.

Ben Bredeson (left guard) and Daniel Bellinger appear to also be similarly out for a month or whatever and then hopefully will come back. In other words, extremely lucky.

Two starters from the offensive line and the primary red zone target; the next few weeks will be rough.

No Country for Old QBs:

Is it just me, or does Tom Brady look really gaunt this season?

Here is Brady in 2022:

Here he was in 2020:

His arms do look more stringy/wiry. Though I also think he has a much bigger helmet (maybe to better protect against concussions) and that might give him more of a “bobblehead” look so he seems skinnier as an optical illusion.

His face looks really gaunt in post game interviews at the podium.
