NFL 2024-25: Week 1

That was one of the worst anthem performances since that drunk country singer.

When the franchise hasn’t advanced to the conference title game (let alone the Super Bowl) in 30 years and is riding an NFL record losing streak in the divisional round, it shouldn’t be surprising that the fan base has become decidedly pessimistic.

Not me, she works for James O’Keefe, who himself was arrested and convicted for sneaking into a government facility (disguised as a telephone repairman) to secretly record a US senator.

This is peanuts compared to what he and his group has done in the past.

Wow. The refs are certainly emphasizing the illegal formation penalty on the OTs this year.

Heartbreaking toe out of bounds at the end of the game. I was really looking forward to that two point conversion.

Lamar Jackson played great tonight. But he missed a wide open receiver in the end zone on the second to the last play.

That was a helluva game between two of the better teams in the league.

I meant more the level of effort for the target seemed pretty unusual. Why assume you can get anything newsworthy out of a mid-level NFL executive at a mediocre team?

He’s been fired BTW.

First ever official NFL game in Brazil started just now. Crowd seems pretty excited.

I can’t see the NFL ever expanding all the way to Brazil, but there might be potential there for some kind of a D-League.

Ugly start for Hurts.

Flag on either team almost every play. Sloppy.

Packers’ offense killing themselves with mistakes. Ugly.

Well, Brazilian fans certainly got their money’s worth. I’m thrilled the Birds won their first game, but I hope Love is OK.

I wasn’t watching the game, but I saw on the online ESPN gamecast that Love was injured on one of the final plays. What happened to him?

GB was down by 5 with 15 seconds left, no timeouts, on their own 49. On the next play Love was getting wrapped up by Carter, but tried to keep his feet so he could pitch the ball back to another player and avoid a game ending sack. In the process it looks like Carter rolled over his ankle, and he had to come out of the game for the final 2 plays.

WOOOOOOOO! E A G L E S EAGLES!!!

Even if we end up 1-15, we’re world champions of South America NFL!

Thanks for the details. Hopefully it isn’t something severe.

Me too on Love. I hate when awesome QBs go down. I love (heh) seeing what Love, Herbert, Allen, Mahomes and plenty others what they do each game. He looked okay, walking…

Jordan Love being successful in GB after Rodgers goes to the NFL career killer of the Jets is one of my favorite stories in football right now, and I hope he’s okay.

He’s also fun to watch.

I thought south of the Equator – lower score was better.
Obviously Coriolis force wasn’t a factor…

Brian
(well aware the CF is only significant in large systems)

It’s now being reported that he suffered an injury to his left MCL, and while it’s not, at this point, expected to be a season-ending injury, it’s likely that he’s going to miss some time.

A little bit more, from the Green Bay Press-Gazette; the gist is he will be getting an MRI (and, I imagine, a clearer diagnosis and prognosis) once the team returns home from Brazil.
