NFL 2024-25: Week 1

Problem will be when defenses cut off his escape to the right. His rollouts to the left were not strong.

Bill is kind of ruining Peyton & Eli for me right now. Feels a little like someone brought their father-in-law to watch the game.

Everything here sounds entirely plausible. While Hill sounds like he was being a bit obstinate (in addition to driving recklessly), at least one of the cops escalated the hell out of the situation.

I’m sure we’ll eventually hear about a long list of misconduct complaints against at least one or two of the cops involved.

The fact that Jonnu Smith was cited for basically nothing is also a huge red flag.

Yeah there was no reason for any of that. He should have been doing the opposite. Be a fucking professional.

New police malpractice video just dropped!

Does Florida generally use 4+ cops for common traffic stops? The “You gotta move! Give me your license!” is a classic one, too.

The 49ers 32-19 win over the Jets was a Scorigami, which seems surprising.

That chart is always amazing. Fascinating there’s been a 19-19 game.

It’s always a pleasure to see conspiracy theorist Aaron Rodgers get smacked down in front of a national audience.

If we were a running back, that would have been a fantastic first game. Alas, he is a quarterback, and in that role he was adequate - 17/24 with no TD and no INTs, 93 passer rating.

Still, it was good enough to hold off the inevitable Washington quarterback controversy, at least for a while.

Rodgers definitely still has the zip on his throws, though. The pass the Lazard for the first touchdown was an absolute rope. Only two or three QBs could do that.

I saw the body cam footage from the Hill arrest. He told the officer to just give him a ticket, kept telling the officer not to touch his window, and then rolled up the window in the middle of the stop and refused to open it. The cop overreacted but Hill acted incredibly entitled and I have seen drivers pulled from their vehicles for far less (my wife is addicted to the YouTube body cam channels).

It seemed like some receivers weren’t ready for the ball to come that fast. A couple of passes literally bounced off of their hands and chests. I’ve heard that’s an issue when you start playing with him.

It’s one thing on a team you’ve been on for over a decade, but maybe skipping mini-camp for an Egyptian vacation wasn’t the greatest idea if this was going to be your (hopefully) first full game with a new team?

I know Lazard played in Green Bay for several years, but it’s not like he’s had the full Rodgers experience in some time, either, due to last season’s injury and all and it showed in some of the drops.

Yeah, I agree, he definitely didn’t look like an old man out there.

There was one play where the RB Breece Hall was about 5 yards away, totally open, no defender around, and was turned around to face Rodgers and standing still. The ball bounced off his chest.

Maybe Hall isn’t the best receiver but it looked like a gimme play.

Week 2 thread here.
