NFL 2024-25: Week 15

Who are they playing… Oh, the Cowboys, okay that makes sense.

The Jaguars won last week leaving a two-way tie between the Giants and Raiders at 2-11, but I think the Raiders hold the tiebreaker. This week looks to have a decent chance for the Giants to lose and Raiders to win.

Too bad the 2025 QB class has no standouts. Even if the Giants get the first overall pick, what are they going to do at quarterback? Trade it for a mid-level veteran?

Shedeur Sanders, maybe?

PFF rates Sanders 3rd (as of last week). The first QB is #12 on their “big board”.

  1. Jalen Milroe, Alabama
  2. Cameron Ward, Miami (FL)
  3. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
  4. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
  5. Drew Allar, Penn State

4 1/2 minutes to go, and we may have a field goal only game in store. Rams had 44 points vs. the Bills but only 9 vs. the Niners…

Annnd looks like 9-6 will indeed be the final score if the Rams are able to run the clock out.

12-6.

Just read this in an ESPN article:

Four nights after winning the highest-scoring game of the NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams won the only game this year that didn’t have a touchdown.

Niners LB De’Vondre Campbell refused to enter last night’s game, when the team had suffered an injury to another linebacker, and wound up walking off the field. He’d started for them for most of the season, but had been replaced as a starter when Dre Greenlaw returned from an injury. Coach Kyle Shanahan was clearly angry in his post-game press conference, as were several of Campbell’s teammates, and it seems likely that he will be cut today.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins have released Odell Beckham Jr. He had played in nine games, with nine receptions.

Wow, what a way to torpedo your career. Good luck playing another snap in the NFL, dude.

I think that was the idea.

Anyway… anybody have recommendations for draft research sites? I’d been years since I had the time or inclination to be a draftnik.

The league frequently reviews plays after the games and will hand out fines or suspensions for illegal hits. They’ll even come out occasionally and admit that the on field officials got a call wrong.
If they can do that after the fact, why can’t they do that at the time?

I’m generally in favor of improving officiating through video, so I support this change so long as the implementation is efficient. But I will note, facemasks (perhaps suprisingly) almost never seem to lead to injury. Necks are strong and helmets aren’t all that tight.

The Bears play on 12/16 (MNF), 12/22 and 12/26 (TNF). Same effective schedule.

They do but not in any way that you mean (so I agree with you).

They need to redesign that part of the helmet entirely, and maybe we won’t need to worry about such penalties in the future, because a better alternative to the standard facemask could involve something you can’t grab like the handle of a bucket.

It was shorthand for facemask fouls.

One of the key issues with facemask design today is that they enmesh on collision. They don’t glance and slide. The grid and importantly the screws and fasteners act as catches. This makes the impact far more abrupt. And while not really related to concussions, those screws and clips cause most of the open cuts and hand/finger injures.

Some of the newer helmets have the top of the facemask integrated into the shell which is a big improvement but a lot of work is still needed, and they need to stop grandfathering old helmets in.

Amen to this.

In classic Dan Quinn fashion the Commanders stumbled toward the end, but at least they defended the 2-pt try. On to the Eagles!

Why the hell did the Lions do an onside kick??? I can get behind going for it on 4th down so aggressively, but I just think attempting an onside kick when you just pulled to within 10 is stupid

The way the Lions defense was playing, a regular kick would have just taken more time off the clock for the Bills to score.

Taylor, on the Colts, drops the ball just before crossing the goal line for a fumble/touchback gifting the Broncos the ball. Part of the showboating epidemic in NFL and NCAA football.

Maybe the ball gets extra heavy if you carry it too long???
A norrid game by both teams.
