NFL Divisional Playoff Weekend

Congrats to dalej on that one. If somehow the scum-sucking Eagles manage to cheat their way past the Giants today, I think I’ll be pulling for your boys to make it all the way. Nice underdog story…I like.

My father-in-law put everything on an Arizona win to make it to the next round in the football pool I run. After he put in his picks, I called him up and asked him why he was so in love with the idea of losing. Guy looks like a fricking genius today.

Cardinals v Ravens, anyone?
Oooh, Better yet:
Cardinals v Chargers. Wouldn’t THAT just frost everyone!!!

Less than an hour from Giants-Eagles. Christ, I have to self-medicate for this one so I don’t cry and/or throw things if the Giants lose. Although, all things considered, it might be even more heartbreaking if they lose to Arizona next week.

FO’s NFC Divisional preview. The point out that the Giants’ pass defense has kinda fallen apart over the last third of the season, specifically against 3rd and 4th WRs, TEs, and RBs. That’s ok though, because the Eagles don’t really pass to slot receivers and RBs, right?

Right?

Anyway, the pessimist in me says this will be a classic Giants loss: really outplay the other team in the 1st Half but go into halftime with a lead of less than 7 due to turnovers and field goals in the red zone . . . then lose the 2nd Half and the game.
Go Big Blue.

The more amazing thing still is if the Eagles beat the Giants, then they have to travel to Phoenix for the NFC title game, and the Cards would avoid having to play an away game in cold weather, where they suck. And if they manage to get in the Superbowl, well, that’s played in warm weather too!

I’m on the Cards bandwagon now and am rooting for all the bird-based teams and want a bird-based Superbowl. Cards versus Ravens baby!

And what if the Chargers beat the Steelers…then an 11-5 wildcard team has to travel to an 8-8 divisional winner’s house to play in the AFC title game…craziness.

Thank you all for wishing the Cards well after their victory.

If you go to the super bowl pick thread, I bet Arizona and San Diego superbowl.
Why? because I see an good team under Coach Wiz in Arizona and look forward to them being a good team for years to come.

I would love to see two West division winners in the Superbowl because the pundits and expects have been down hard on those weak divisions. For the best of the worse divisions to rally and fight their way to the super bowl would be fun!

Gotta say, a rematch with the eagles in Arizona will be one hell of a game.
Considering the last Division title won by Arizona was against the Eagles in 1947.

Philly has to win first, but they have a shot, the matchup of eagles and giants is usually good.

I’ve said it before, here on these boards - the Carolina Panthers are the Stephen King of football. Often have strong starts, good elements that work well together for a solid middle, and screw it all up at the ending.

Crap :frowning:

With just a minute or two to go before kickoff, let me just note:

GO GIANTS!!!

Well, Giants fans better hope that Manning doesn’t get in the habit of choking up that ball today.

Iggles put up 10 yds of total offense in the first quarter.

2:00 to go in the first half. Eagles have 34 yards of total offense, have turned the ball over once on an INT and once on a safety. And they still hold the lead.

In the Titans/Ravens game, did anyone notice that, when the Ravens had the ball inside their own 5 yard line and Joe Flacco was rolling out to the right, Flacco ran outside the back of the endzone? No one on the broadcast saw it or said anything about it. The officiating crew missed it. There were no replays of it on the broadcast. And no one on the Titans bench or booth saw it. The Ravens ended up punting on that drive but a 2 point safety plus the ball back might have made a difference.

Of course, that’s not even counting the missed delay-of-game call.

They replayed it after the game and he was right on the line, never going over.

I obviously missed the post-game show but admit that I’m shocked that he didn’t step out. Thanks for the correction.

Why do teams (like the Giants just now) call timeouts when the play clock is about to run to zero when they’ve got 1st and 10? It seems like timeouts are certainly more valuable than a five yard penalty, especially on 1st down and so early in the second half.

Two drives in a row that the Iggles shut down the Giants on 4th and short. Gotta like good old fashioned smashmouth football!

Just you wait. Now it’s Eli’s time to shine.

Poor Eli.

Poor, poor Eli.

Lots of underdog wins so far this playoffs.

Now I have the disgusting proposition of possibly rooting for the Steelers. I think they’d have a better chance of taking out the trash in the AFC Championship game than the Chargers, and as much as I’d hate to see the Steelers make the superbowl, it’d be much worse to see the Illegitimate Entity do it.

I am really, really excited that we’re going to have a Super Bowl that does not feature a Manning or a Brady.
