NFL Draft 2013

This whole draft on Thursday and Friday is fucking stupid, the NFL must be chasing that coveted unemployed slacker market.

It’s kind of annoying, but ratings-wise it seems like it’s working for them.

I always forget just how friggin’ big Jonathan Ogden is.

Really surprised Brown lasted after Bostic. I like Brown.

Vance McDonald over Kelce? OK.

Upside pick.

I was hoping the Packers would get more than a 6th rounder to move down those 6 spots, but oh well. I don’t like Lacey all that much, but he could be good value here.

The Steelers have perplexed me, taking Bell when they could have waited until the next round. Even worse, they let Brown fall to the Ravens.

I’d love to know what Tim Tebow is thinking right now.

Broncos get Wisconsin’s Montee Ball. He comes into a really good opportunity. The Bronco’s running backs are old and injury-prone.

Agreed. Brown/Jones would be 2007’s Timmons/Woodley all over again. Of course, they really need offensive playmakers which… Bell is, kind of? It’s an absolute Steelers pick, though - a big ass RB - even though that’s a bit “outdated” in the modern NFL. But he would have probably been gone in the mid 3rd round, so, I don’t know.

Brown is probably going to be a beast. I think I’m going to wait till the fourth round to decide whether or not to be pissed.

ETA: I bet they go for Mauti in the 7th as a project ILB.

I think Bell will be great for Pittsburgh, but I’m a Sparty fan.

A question for the experts here…Is Denard Robinson gonna get drafted?

Me too. I also agree that he seems a bit outdated for what they’re trying to do with the line but I trust the front office.

Some quick fire reactions after missing the first 90 minutes of this thing in the car.

I really like the players taken at the top of this round, some more then their first round counterparts. In particular:

Justin Hunter is going to be excellent in the right system. Not sure Tennessee is the right fit but he’s would be a star in a deep passing system.

Robert Woods is another WR that I like, will not be dynamic and flashy but he’ll be a steady contributor. Probably not happy to be going to Buffalo though, though Woods might actually work well with Kolb in a short passing game.

I completely agree with Bernard as the 1st RB taken, I thought he was by far the most exciting guy at the combine and I think the highlights I’ve seen justify that. Great pick for the Bengals, they are starting to really come together.

Speaking of the Bengals, Hunt is a crap shoot but I would have loved to roll the dice with him on the Bears. The Bengals will be great to watch this year… if only they had a better QB.

The Jets have to feel pretty good about getting Smith in the 2nd, probably a smart play for them. I’m not a fan of his, but this is a solid value.

Te’o to the Chargers saves the Bears from that shit show. I’m still willing to be proven wrong on the guy, but I think he’s going to SUCK.

Lots of LBs in the round so far. The Bears grabbed Bostic which I’m ok with. Honestly he’s one of the few that I didn’t research heavily, but I’m glad it wasn’t Te’o or Alonso. Would have preferred Brown but Bostic played against better competition and is a better fit at MLB, hopefully they made the right call.

I think Eddie Lacy is a scrub, reminds me more of Ron Dayne than Trent Richardson. Plus if Mayock is to be believed, he might be manning the training table more than the huddle.

I was sad to see the Cowboys grab Escobar, I was hoping he’d slip to the Bears. Not sure if I’d have preferred a TE over a LB if it would have come down to it, but I think Escobar might be a steal.

Man I wish the Bears had traded back and picked up a 3rd…so many nice players still available.

He shouldn’t, but I bet he does in the 6th.

My draft guide’sone-line description on Vance McDonald: “More of a big wide receiver than true tight end. Not a good blocker, which is essential for the 49ers’ offense.”

The good news is that blocking can be taught, and since he’s so big, it would be natural for him to pick it up. Overall, a good selection, but maybe not worth trading up to get.

A receiving tight end in a blocking tight end’s body. Good stuff.

I don’t mind Warford for the Lions, but why take him over Barrett Jones?

The Packers move down 6 spots and get a 6th rounder in return. The Seahawks move down 6 spots and get a 6th round pick … and a fifth round pick. C’mon Teddy.

Warford is a lot better player. Jones is nice, but he doesn’t have Pro Bowl upside.

I agree, he has a huge upside. And a ILB is not even close to the biggest need for Steelers. But… I still really like Brown. Ah well!
