I think the 49ers have had my favorite draft this year. The only reason it wouldn’t be is because I think moving up as far as they did for Reid was a big reach. But they paid nothing to do so after working over the Cowboys, so the value wasn’t that bad.
Damn, the 49ers just grabbed Lattimore. What a amazing selection for them and Lattimore. Between Patton and Lattimore this has been an amazing 3rd day for SF.
This hurts me inside…so wanted him in Chicago to replace Forte in 2 years.
The 49ers draft is weird for me. I love Lemonier, Patton and Lattimore. Really not excited about Reid, McDonald or Carradine. If I’m wrong and Reid is a solid starter and Carradine stays healthy this is possibly the best draft already.
Love the Johnathon Franklin pick. Don’t know enough about the two O linemen they grabbed earlier though. More game tape to watch and blurbs to read, I guess.
49ers get Lattimore and Quinton Patton. Fuck them.
Let me help you…
Meh.
Thanks!
Denard Robinson to Jacksonville.
Shows just how shitty Rich Rod did. the first Michigan player in the 5th round?
Looks like I was wrong, 5th round.
ETA: Jessie Williams would have been a nice fit for the Bears to rotate with Paea. Oh well, we need to find a WR, CB and DT at some point and we only have 2 picks left.
ETA2: And Simon is another excellent fit for the Bears to backup Tillman …gone. Sigh.
It really seems like the bottom has been lifted way up in terms of how competent teams are in the draft. There are very few stupid teams left.
Hughes is gonna be a bust, the Colts have had 2 terrible drafts in a row (and no, they don’t get credit for lucking into Luck).
Of my list from last night there isn’t much left here in the 5th. I like Dysert, but I’m not sure the Bears can afford to draft a project QB to back up Cutler in this draft and there’s a pretty good chance that a UDFA will be available, maybe even Dysert or Scott.
Swope fills a need and he’s my favorite option right now. Buchanan wouldn’t suck but he’d be a luxury pick for the Bears.
Just the Bills, Jets and Browns. However, I think a pretty good case could be made that the Patriots are in that group too in spite of the occasional Gronk/Hernandez picks they tend to waste a bounty of picks every year.
Hoping Baccari Rambo lasts ‘til 154 for the Skins. Not because I know anything about him, or even because the Skins need a(nother) safety, I just want to hear the Redskins’ radio team (Sonny Jurgensen, Sam Huff, and Frank Herzog) yelling out his name.
I agree about Franklin, it’s going to be fascinating to see the change in the Packers offense. More balance you would assume. I also think you see the rationale behind stockpiling picks, quantity that hopefully translates to some quality.
I was scared the Bears would draft Barkley. He might excel at a quick run West Coast offense. Luckily, they seem either content with Cutler or not looking beyond this year.
Rambo was a risk-taking ball hawk at Georgia, and a hard hitting leader on their defense. However, he kept getting disciplined and suspended. I figured he was a 3rd Round guy. I guess teams dropped him lower for various reasons.
Ryan Nassib ended up going to the Giants at #110, by the way. Then the Raiders took Tyler Wilson and Pittsburgh took Landry Jones. I had been wondering earlier if the Steelers might draft one of the freefalling guys like Barkley or Nassib because their backup situation has been pretty terrible, but I guess it made more sense to wait and take someone lower down.
The Bills have taken safeties with their last two picks. I thought the run defense needed more help.
With the exception of the Mathieu pick, the Cardinals have had one hell of a draft. Going to be a heated next few years in the NFC West.
Wasn’t a fan of Barkley where he was being projected but in the 4th I’d have been satisfied with the pick and on paper he’s a good fit. Still, he isn’t a special talent and Dysert is better built for the NFL game. Barkley reminds me a little of Colt McCoy, yuck, but maybe he’s better than that.
With him and Lacy and two new O linemen, that running game better improve.
I’ve always seen the rationale. But do you anticipate Bakhtiari and Tretter to add more to the Packers than say a Quinton Patton, Sam Montgomery, or Earle Wolffe? I’m a big fan of stockpiling picks, but sometimes, when your team has pretty good depth at most places, it is OK to make a run at a guy who could be great. With the cutting of DJ Smith and the shopping of Desmond Bishop, I know I would have liked to see a ILB on the draft board.
When you go through all the drafts, it seems like nearly every team has improved itself tremendously - starters all over the place in positions of need, a ton of Pro Bowl potential talent everywhere, etc. Everything they said about this draft is true, where guys like Johnathon Franklin and Jesse Williams are falling to the 4th round.
Then you look at Cleveland Browns, and they’ve added Barkevious Mingo and a tiny CB…
