NFL Draft 2013

Another Bears pick coming up. Looking at Lutzenkirchen, Dysert, Poyer, Pocic, Da’Rick Rogers, Maysonet.

I think Rogers is my favorite.

As an Oregon fan, I’m contractually obligated to like Barner. He’ll make a good read-option partner with Cam Newton, if he can reach up that high. Return man option, too.

Does Nike pay you too?

Not having a 2nd, 4th or 5th is a good start. Moving back to 2014, out of a deep draft, is not very helpful. The Browns can’t wait to rebuild, they aren’t the Patriots or Niners, they can’t stash picks for the future.

Mingo is overrated, but that’s not why they are lumped in here.

So do you think the Browns getting Josh Gordon a year early with their second round pick is actually a bad move? One that makes them one of the 3 dumbest franchises worthy of mention? Who could they have picked in round 2 that would’ve been better than Gordon?

I’m contractually obligated to answer, “No.”

Nice pick for the Bears. Cornelius Washington was on my radar as a late-round steal. Topped the combine in 40, bench, and both vertical and broad jump. Probably a third-down only guy for now.

Man, what a weird draft for Steelers. They get the guys they were targeting, but it seems like they keep reaching. I know Justin Brown was in for pre-draft visits, but was he on any other teams radar? Kruger’s still there, he’d be just as much a project, but he’s far more well known to other teams and might not last the round.

I really want the Packers to draft 1982 Lawrence Taylor with their next pick.

I don’t have a problem with the Gordon pickup. Though I’m pretty sure a 2nd rounder was WAY more than they needed to bid to get him, Historically this team has been terrible at drafting. This year they basically punted. Plus they have Lombardi. What exactly have they done to get out of the bad-draft dog house?

Brown has no info listed on NFL.com. Just his name and school; no height, no weight, no grade. Da’Rick Rogers must be wanted for stealing a submarine or aiding North Korea or something.

Yeah, Rambo!

A completely new regime gets them out of the bad drafting dog house. It’s not as if there’s some gypsy curse that stays with franchises separately from the people who run them.

Bills would’ve taken Gordon with their third rounder in the supplemental draft, so the Browns needed to do a 2. And it was a steal even at that price.

I’m not saying they’ve had a great draft, but including Gordon as part of it (that’s only logical) it looks pretty okay. I agree that setting up for next year is a weird strategy in this draft, but not enough to say they stand out as one of the three worst teams.

I’m on board with this pick too. Didn’t have DE as the most pressing need (they have like 12 of them on the roster) but with Peppers eventually being a cap casualty, McClellin being a 3rd down player only, Izzy still unsigned, Wootton’s injury history and McBride’s general suckiness there’s a good argument to be made for grabbing a high upside guy.

Maybe Washington puts it together and can anchor one side of the line in a year or two, getting a DE with his measurables this late in the draft is very defensible.

Still think getting Rogers could have been more impactful in 2013 though.

Tell that to the Clippers.

Incidentally I wonder if the Browns are trying to get picks in next year’s draft to move up to grab a QB. I don’t expect them to be picking in the top 5 (although I’m sure everyone else will) so they’ll need some ammunition to trade up.

Packers draft Illinois State OLB/DE Nate Palmer (who incidentally visited the Packers)

Take that Omni!

Did Chase Thomas kill a hooker or something?

Bar fights, kicked out of Tennessee after failing three drug tests, etc. Not a Steelers kind of player.

Brown wasn’t invited to the combine, he was a casualty of the whole PSU thing but did well in his final season at OSU. 6’3", 210 pounds, strong hands, and a 4.60 40 yard dash. Was pretty athletic, had good completion %. Steelers always seem to pick great receivers late, so I’m going to let them have this one. On paper it sounds like he’s has an enormous upside, but needs a lot of coaching, especially with route running.

No kidding. No rape or beating his girlfriend. Slacker.

So confused…

I just read a report that WRs and RBs with criminal history gain something like 140 more yards a year.
