Nfl draft 2018

Decided to go out to a thing with the gf. I won’t have a big reaction until I get home to dig around. Relieved it wasn’t Allen. Feel pretty good about Mayfield.

Another SoCal QB for the Cards.

And the Fins took about 30 seconds to make their pick.

He doesn’t have the wheels for SS does he? Not with a 4.5 40 anyway.

Good for the Cardinals. I’m not a huge fan, but I also don’t get the hate for Rosen. His floor is pretty high, I think.

First round

  1. Cleveland Browns - Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
  2. New York Giants - Saquon Bakley, RB, Penn State
  3. New York Jets (from Indianapolis Colts) - Sam Darnold, QB, USC
  4. Cleveland Browns (from Houston Texans) - Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State
  5. Denver Broncos - Bradley Chubb, DE, NC State
  6. Indianapolis Colts (from New York Jets) - Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame
  7. Buffalo Bills (from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) - Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming
  8. Chicago Bears - Roquan Smith, OLB, Georgia
  9. San Francisco 49ers - Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame
  10. Arizona Cardinals (from Oakland Raiders) - Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
  11. Miami Dolphins
  12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from Cincinnati Bengals via Buffalo)
  13. Washington Redskins
  14. Green Bay Packers
  15. Oakland Raiders (from Arizona Cardinals)
  16. Baltimore Ravens
  17. Los Angeles Chargers
  18. Seattle Seahawks
  19. Dallas Cowboys
  20. Detroit Lions
  21. Cincinnati Bengals (from Buffalo Bills)
  22. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City Chiefs)
  23. New England Patriots (from Los Angeles Rams)
  24. Carolina Panthers
  25. Tennessee Titans
  26. Atlanta Falcons
  27. New Orleans Saints
  28. Pittsburgh Steelers
  29. Jacksonville Jaguars
  30. Minnesota Vikings
  31. New England Patriots
  32. Philadelphia Eagles

The Cardinals get the booby prize. Will the Dolphins step in shit by taking Jackson?

Let me quote myself

Never a bad idea to build up the offensive line. Still need EDGE, though.

He’s fast enough, but the Bears have 2 quality young guys there already who are prototypical. His issue at S would be stiffness, swivel and hands. I said this pre-draft, you don’t draft a guy in the top ten and ask him to change positions. Smith will probably replace Kwiatkowski in passing situations, not sure where he lines up in base. He’s certainly not an edge guy.

Edit: I suppose he’s about the same size as Trevathan (who I thought was bigger), maybe they expect Smith to replace him, not sure they can play together in running situations.

I’ve gotta go to work at stupid-o’clock in the morning, so I’ll just hope that Harold Landry falls to my Titans at 25.

My condolences to the Bills fans out there.

Damn, there goes Vea. Maybe Edmunds for the Packers?

In retrospect, Vea would have been my guy for the Bears.

Looks like the Saints moved up, trading with the Packers. Are they looking for a QB to replace Brees in a couple years, maybe getting ahead of Baltimore?

No fucking way Davenport is worth what the Saints paid.

That was…uh…different…

Hot damn. I wasn’t sold on Davenport, and with Vea gone, I’m fine with the Packers moving down 13 spots. A first rounder next year is more than enough compensation, and getting a 5th rounder is just the icing on the cake. There seems to be a fair amount of talent left (I’d love Edmunds, James, Landry, Hernandez. Hell, there’s a bunch of guys I’d like. My dream is that Maurice Hurst is still there and the Packers take him. I think he’s better than Davenport.)

Here’s hoping the Saints suck next year, so it’s a nice high pick.

Hate to say it, but that’s a great deal for the Packers. Fucking assholes.

Best pick of the top 5, Chubb.
Best pick of the next 5, Nelson.
Best pick of the next 5, Vea.

The meatballs in r/CHIBears will be losing their mind over that Davenport pick. After Nelson, he was by far the fan favorite. Would have been a massive reach, but he’s awfully interesting. Think he’d have made me happier than Smith. Just heard Edmunds is only 19 and he shares my birthday, I’m retroactively pissed we didn’t draft him.

Top two OTs off the board way earlier than their draft grades indicate. Still no WRs, which makes sense. Absolutely amazing that Derwin James is still on the board.

C’mon Bolts, don’t screw this up!

4 QB’s and all of one other skill player so far.

…I can live with James.

Packers trade back up…sweet, burning resources. James would have scared me, have a feeling it’s Ridley which doesn’t scare me a bit.

EDIT…WHAT THE FUCK, SEAHAWKS? A 3rd rounder to move up 10 spots?

Indecision '18…at 19.

Pshhht.
And for the 4th straight year as the Lions Pick moves on deck, there is no one at all I like available in the spot.

Hahaha Martavis goes where WR’s go to die…at least he doesn;t get injured as much as some other Raiders I could name.

Eh, not interested in any of the other picks in the first…bbl.

With a new GM, I was concerned the Packers would be a bit hesitant in the draft. But they’ve made a couple pretty nice moves. Essentially, it appears they moved from 14 to 18, got a first rounder next year and a 5th year, and gave up a third rounder and a sixth rounder this year. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Now I have to go watch game tape of Jaire Alexander. Certainly CB is a position of need. I have no idea if he’s the guy to do it.
