NFL draft

Nailed that one, anyway.

Nice call.

Here is my 3 beer WAG. Justice to KC. He is to good a value and the Dominant O-line is getting old. (this means your Roaf)

Pats may also grab a WR if they think Holmes/Jackson (whichever is there) is too good a value to pass - they only have like 3 or 4 on the roster atm.

If Vermeil were still involved I’d totally agree with you. I have zero faith in Herm Edwards ability to use that kind of foresight. Especially considering Edwards is a former DB and supposed defensive minded coach. If the Chiefs don’t go defense here after the past few seasons failures there’ll be rioting in front of the BBQ joints in KC.

Believe me, I’m concerned about that possibility. Still I just have a hunch that the Pats will look to Maroney or Williams to take Dillons place with this pick, especially with the run on LBs. Justice would also be tempting due to the loss of Ashworth.

I’m not convinced that Belichick is going to see a rookie WR as a great “value” pick here.

The Ohio State University is representin’! We might have six 1st round picks!

Here’s a totally unsubstantiated theory. Suppose the 49ers offer up their 22nd pick straight up for Javon Walker. Would be a smart move for the 49ers in my view, they have holes at WR (and everywhere else) and could still land a contributor with the 2nd rounder.

Doubt it will happen, but the pieces seem to fit.

Incidentally the Cowboys just took Carpenter, much to my surprise. Though I guess that San Diego might view Jimmy Williams as a superior value to Chad Jackson here. If so, it only get better for the Bears.

Which Ohio State University are you talking about, dnooman? Ohio of Miami or what?

If Walker is traded for a 1st round pick, I’d have to think SF or NE. But it would depend on if a player is still available at that point that has the value, or even potential value.

I can’t even keep up. Who’s left with enough value to the Packers to give up Walker?

Well, technically, you may have 6 players chosen in the first round. OSU isn’t going to benefit next year on the field. Though it really helps recruiting.

I’d love to have Nick Mangold, and I’m not sure he’d fall to the second round. There’s also a couple of DE, but I think they might fall to us in the second round.

The Packers could be aiming to land Justice, one of the RBs available, Nick Mangold, or one of the rookie WRs in exchange for Walker.

Suppose the Chargers take Justice? Adding that guy to clear a path for LT? Holy shit.

Chad Jackson or Winston Justice? I could maybe see that, but with Walker a proven talent I have to think a later round pick(s) would be needed.

Help me out here, Oni. Who are the Bears drooling over?

Normally I’d agree, but Walker’s vocal refusal to return to GB really reduces the Pack’s bargaining power. If they get a first rounder for him they should count their blessings.

LT getting even a 2% upgrade on the line is scary. Know what’s scarier? I think Bush is going to make LT look like, well, any other run-of-the-mill RB. I think Bush is going to be that good.

And it’ll only be a couple hour drive when they play each other next year.

Their shoes. HA! :stuck_out_tongue:

As usual, a ton of DB’s going off the board early. Ahmad Carroll anyone?

Well, I’m drooling over Santonio Holmes. I’m guessing that the organization was expecting to ignore the WR position since Jackson and Holmes were largely expect to not be available here. Supposedly the teams wants a TE or DB, and were keen on Whitner and Youboty.

I think Pope or Lewis would be a waste with the 26th overall, and I think the team will realize that when they notice the kind of talent sliding right now.

There’s still a few highly rated DBs available, Joseph, Jimmy Williams, Youboty. Those would probably be the most likely. If they take any of these guys with Jackson or Holmes still on the board I’m going to lose my mind.

I know the team wants a LB as well, but there’s no one of value left in the first round.
