NFL Predictions Week 8

Hey, Bears fans:

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I officially dub this the “Keep your eyes on the bouncing ball” week in the NFL. First Troy Brown catches the deflection ala the Immaculate Reception, then the Bears do it twice, one on a Hail Mary and once on a pass deflection.

Incredible comeback by the Bears. Nice work by the Redskins - 230 yards rushing!!?? The two remaining people in our stress pool had picked Green Bay to win and the Giants to win. Tell me they weren’t both sweating!

1-2 so far in my OMNI picks.

Ugh, 1-4.

You can see why I have not before offered my predictions.

And WTF is up with Kris Brown missing four FGs for the Steelers? Not only did he blow the game for us (repeatedly), he is my fantasy kicker.

No, I’m not mad.

Really.

Yeah.

Not a bad week, and how 'bout them Bears. I am so OK with them screwing up my spread pick :).

Lets see how I did so far.

7-6 straight up.
6-6 against the spread.

Not bad really, I’m especially pleased that I nailed that Green Bay - Tampa Bay game, and the SF - Detriot game. Its tricky to pick both parts of games where the favorite wins and the loser covers, its a tight margin.

By the way, try doing this pick 5 thing for a few weeks, its a hell of alot harder than it seems. I mean I can handle not getting all five, but more often than not I’m under .500 for the week.

When I got in on this thing, I figued I’d be in it every week. I’m usually pretty damn good at these things, and I usually am near the top of my confidence leagues. Granted this season has been a bit nuttier than those in the past, but I still should be better than 14-21 on the season.

Sounds good to me.

And, for all those getting off the Redskins SuckWagon, look at the top of the NFC East, kids. You’ll see it’s GREEN.

Go Eagles!

Count me in!

I can tell you’re really excited that your team’s 4-3.

Yeah, Kim, I am. I figure they’d be 6-3, as soon as the Eagles play their two games against the Skins, who, btw, aren’t as good as they’ve looked lately.

Anyway, is anyone else here in this thread also in the Yahoo prediction group (which, also btw, I’m winning handily)? I’d copy my predictions from there each week, but I don’t want someone riding my coattails to first place. Well, second place, in their case.

Depends on how good you think they’ve looked, I suppose.

What they’ve demonstrated lately is that, at home, they can beat teams that should wind up in the neighborhood of 9-7. They are that good.

They haven’t demonstrated that they can beat playoff-quality teams at home, or .500 teams on the road. And they didn’t look like they could do that on Sunday, either - they benefitted from Hasselbeck’s inexperience and a lot of dropped passes. They allowed some short completions to turn into major gains, after the catch. And while Banks is showing improvement, he’s still clearly a work in progress; nobody should confuse him with Joe Theismann just yet.

OTOH, the 'Skins are +4 in turnovers, which is pretty amazing considering how they started off.

There are really three things worth knowing about the Redskins right now: (1) the offense is finally (finally!!) centered around Stephen Davis; (2) the defense isn’t great, but it is respectable; and (3) this team isn’t likely to beat itself.

That should more than suffice against Dallas and Arizona, but how far that will take them against the Broncos, Saints, Eagles, and Destiny’s Darlings remains to be seen.
