NFL Week 1

Charlie Frye was pulled halfway through game 1 of 2007 and then traded away a few days later, replaced by Derek Anderson in what became a 10 win season.

And the Texans last year only put up with one half of the Tom Savage experience versus Jacksonville in Week 1, before putting in Deshaun Watson in the 2nd half.

Savage: 7/13, 62 yards, 2 fumbles, 6 sacks for 33 lost yards. No rushes. At least there were 0 picks.

Watson: 12/23, 102 yards, 1 TD, 1 fumble, 1 pick. 4 sacks for 21 lost yards, but 2 rushes for 16 yards.

And then Watson proceeded to have an absolutely torrid season until his injury.

At least Buffalo’s probably a smaller media market than Wyoming, so the pressure on him won’t be too tough.
